Lions Bears Key Injuries

Lions

The Lions’ starting QB, RB and No. 1 WR are all listed as questionable on the injury report. Matthew Stafford got in a limited practice on Thursday, but is expected to play. However, D’Andre Swift (concussion) and Kenny Golladay (hip) have yet to practice, putting their status in doubt.

Adrian Peterson and Marvin Jones will need to continue to step up if Swift and Golladay are inactive again Sunday.

Bears

Khalil Mack and Akeem Hicks, the two most valuable pieces of the Bears’ defense, are both listed as questionable for this contest. If one or both of them don’t play, be sure to adjust your potential plays on this game accordingly.

Lions Bears Players to Watch

DET QB Matthew Stafford is expected to play, despite only getting in limited practice this week. When these two teams played in Week 1, Stafford went 24-of-42 for 297 yards and a TD in a 27-23 Lions’ loss.

Kenny Golladay didn’t play in the contest earlier this season and looks like he’ll be out again Sunday. Whether D’Andre Swift (illness) suits up or not could swing the tide.

CHI QB Mitchell Trubisky led the Bears to that Week 1 victory, going 20-for-36 for 242 yards and 3 TDs. He spread the ball around in that contest, throwing at least three passes to five different players. Anthony Miller led the team in receiving with 76 yards and a TD, while Allen Robinson had five catches for 74 yards. Jimmy Graham also caught a TD. Similar outputs shouldn’t be out of the question this weekend.

Lions Bears Weather Report

The weather report for Soldier Field calls for intermittent clouds with a high temperature of 39 degrees Fahrenheit. There is just a 1% change of rain and wind gusts of up to 10 mph.

Lions Bears Bet Tips

BEST BET: Lions +3 (-105)

Following a 41-25 loss to the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving, the Lions fired head coach Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn. With the team’s then-OC and now-interim head coach Darrell Bevell making his debut, I expect the Lions to be up for this one.

It’s also a division game, which typically make for tighter contests. I hate to play for a potential push, so I’ll consider buying half a point to get the Lions up to +3.5.

CONSIDER: Bears (-165)

I’ll consider taking the Bears moneyline here as I’m not sure where each team’s injury report ultimately lands. If Chicago’s key defensive players are healthy, then I’d make da Bears minus da points as my top play.

PASS: Over 45 (-110)

This one really comes down to who ultimately suits up come Sunday. If Swift is active for the Lions and/or Mack and Hicks are out, then I’ll take the over. If Swift is out and specifically Mack is in, then the under is a far more likely outcome. Check on the final injury report before considering a wager on the total.
