But it’s a sign that if the Chiefs can make the playoffs, their experience and pedigree make them dangerous.
It’s also a sign that there is no dominant, overwhelming favorite to win the Super Bowl right now, leaving the door open for Kansas City.
Kansas City Chiefs AFC Championship Odds (+950)
There is no clear favorite to win the AFC right now.
Even though the Patriots and Broncos both have long winning streaks at the moment, oddsmakers aren’t sold on them being the eventual AFC champ.
If the Chiefs can start to turn some of their close losses into wins down the stretch, it’s not crazy to think that they can make a late run that culminates in another AFC Championship.

Facing a four-game deficit behind Denver with five weeks left makes Kansas City a long shot to win the AFC West for a tenth consecutive season.
However, the Chiefs have three home games left, as well as two very winnable road games.
They will need the Broncos (as well as the Chargers) to stumble late in the season, so winning the division is still possible, just not likely.
Kansas City Chiefs Odds to Make the Playoffs (+120)
Getting plus-money odds for the Chiefs to make the playoffs would have been hard to believe at the start of the season.
But fans in the Show-Me State could look at it as a gift now that Missouri sports betting is legal.
Kansas City has to make up two games in the Wild Card race over the next five weeks, but with the Colts fading and a head-to-head game with the Chargers still on the schedule, the Chiefs have a path to make it happen.
