Jets Seahawks Bet Tips for Week 14

Last Updated: Jan 8, 2021

The New York Jets visit the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET. Here’s our complete guide to Jets Seahawks Bet Tips. (All odds and lines for Jets at Seahawks picks are from PointsBet, current as of Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. ET. )

New York Jets (0-12) at Seattle Seahawks (8-4)

Jets Seahawks Odds and Betting Lines

  • Against The Spread: Seahawks -13.5 (-110)/Jets +13.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Seahawks (-741)/Jets (+520)
  • Total: 46.5 — Over 46.5 (-115)/Under 46.5 (-105)
  • Implied Team Totals: Seahawks 30, Jets 16.5

The Jets remain a winless 0-12 and will have a hard time finding a victory as they travel out West to face-off against the Seahawks, who must rebound following an improbable Week 13 home loss to the Giants.

The Seahawks are 3-4 in the past seven games and 2-3 in their past five. The Seahawks can not afford another loss as the Rams have taken over first place in the NFC West.

Jets-Seahawks Key Injuries

Jets

Jets RB Frank Gore is dealing with a concussion. Gore sustained the head injury in last week’s loss to the Raiders, knocking him out of the game.

With Gore up in the air to play in Sunday’s tilt at the Seahawks, Ty Johnson and Josh Adams are expected to handle the workload if the longtime NFL veteran back sits.

In lieu of Gore last week, Adams averaged 9.3 yards per carry, rushing for 74 yards on eight attempts. Johnson on the other hand was the workhorse. He ran for 104 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries while adding another 13 yards on a pair of receptions.

While Adams and Johnson exploited the Raiders, their upcoming matchup at Seattle is much tougher. The Seahawks’ defense is yielding the fifth-fewest rushing yards per game (97.7) in 2020.

Seahawks

Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett briefly left last week’s loss to the Giants after suffering a possible concussion. However, after missing a few series and going through proper testing, he later returned to the game. Barring any unexpected symptoms, Lockett should be good to go for Week 14.

Jets-Seahawks Players to Watch

While Jamison Crowder had a hot start to the season, he quieted down in the second half. In four games since Week 9, Crowder has a combined 18 targets, hauling in 11 of them for 120 yards and three touchdowns.

Jets Seahawks Bet Tips and Jets at Seahawks Picks: Jamison Crowder will remain busy as a receiving target for Sam Darnold
Jets WR Jamison Crowder (82) celebrates his touchdown in front of tight end Chris Herndon (89) and cornerback Trayvon Mullen (27) during the first half at MetLife Stadium in Week 13. (USA TODAY Sports)

In Crowder’s first four games of the year — he’s only played in eight total this season — the veteran wideout had a combined 29/383/2 line on 46 targets. He also had three games with 100+ receiving yards in his first four.

Crowder will get a Seattle defense allowing the most passing yards per game (309.8). Even if he pops, the Jets don’t have a chance.

In two games since returning from his foot injury, Seahawks RB Chris Carson has been effective but has yet to receive his normal workload. Per reports, Carson is still not at 100% and was limited at practice Thursday.

In Week 12, his first game back against the Eagles, Carson went for 59 total yards and a touchdown on 10 touches. In his second game back in last week’s loss to the Giants, Carson totaled 110 yards and a touchdown on 16 touches.

Although I don’t think Carson will see north of 20 touches this week against the Jets, Carson has proved time and time again that he doesn’t need a ton of work to make an impact. He’s seen fewer than 16 touches in back-to-back games but scored twice and went for 100+ yards once.

Facing the Jets this week, Carson should be equally as effective as he was against the Giants. The Jets are allowing the 11th fewest rushing yards per game (107.8) and nine total touchdowns to enemy backs.

It is not the greatest matchup, but if the Jets, who fired defensive coordinator Gregg Williams this week, attempt to contain Russell Wilson, Carson could run wild en route to a much-needed Seattle victory.

Jets-Seahawks Weather Report

Jets at Seahawks Picks for NFL Bets

BEST BET: Over 46.5 (-115)

While the Seahawks have scored fewer than 23 points in three of their past four games, this Jets matchup is a much-needed get-right game for their once high-octane offense. Break out the December Shepherd’s Pie. Russell Wilson will get back to cooking on Sunday.

However, I am not only anticipating points from the Seahawks. The Jets’ offense is improved over the past month now that Sam Darnold, Breshad Perriman, Jamison Crowder, and Denzel Mims are all on the field and healthy. Moreover, the Jets even ran the ball effectively last week against the Raiders.

The Jets have scored at least 27 points in three of their past four games, their best stretch of 2020. Sad.

The 46.5-point total is a reasonable one. Sure, the sportsbooks are taking into consideration how the Seahawks’ offense has played in the past four games, but their matchups with the Eagles, Giants, Rams, and Cardinals during that stretch were not exactly easy ones.

The Over is 3-4 in the Seahawks’ past seven games but has not hit in each of their past four.

This 46.5-point total is Seattle’s lowest in their past 10 games. Their totals have been in the 50s for the nine games leading up to last week’s loss to the Giants (48.5).

The Over is 3-1 in the Jets’ past four games.

CONSIDER: Jets +13.5 (-110)

I don’t give the Jets any shot at winning this game, but they have a realistic shot at covering this massive point spread. The Jets have covered in three of their past four games and four of their past six.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks have failed to cover in six of their past eight games, including in each of their past two.

On paper, the Seahawks are 14 points better than the Jets, but both teams have been trending in opposite directions in the past four games contrary to how they played earlier in the year.

PASS: Jets (+520)

I am punting the Moneyline going in either direction. You need to lay a king’s ransom to get a meager return if you take Seattle. And wagering the Jets Moneyline would be like flushing your hard-earned money down the toilet.

I know the Giants had the upset special win over the Seahawks last week, but that New York team is competent and trending in the right direction. Meanwhile, the Jets are, well… still the Jets.
