January 13 NBA DFS Picks on Monkey Knife Fight: Giannis, Lillard will score often

Last Updated: Feb 19, 2021

January 13 NBA DFS Picks: Monkey Knife Fight (MKF) combines elements of daily fantasy sports and traditional prop betting to offer a unique array of contests daily for a multitude of sports, making it a great opportunity for your 1/13/21 NBA DFS plays.

With NBA season in full swing, MKF enhances the enjoyment of the hardwood with exciting opportunities each night to win cash based on your knowledge of some of the league’s top players.

The GameDay breaks down two MKF contests daily that we feel have profit potential. With Wednesday night offering plenty of big names, here’s a closer look at two opportunities involving some of the most offensively explosive players on the slate:

January 13 NBA DFS Picks

Milwaukee Bucks at Detroit Pistons

MKF Contest: More Or Less (Pick 2/2 correctly to get 3x your buy-in)

Giannis Antetokounmpo: More than 26.5 Points

This is the third go-around with the Pistons in the last nine days for Antetokounmpo, who should be feeling back to normal after dealing with some back spasms this past weekend that led to him missing one game. The Greek Freak has scored at least 27 points in five of 10 games, including 43 against these same Pistons on Jan. 4.

The key here will be the contest remaining competitive long enough to allow Giannis to reach this benchmark, but given his efficient 52.5 percent shooting, he certainly has a chance against a Detroit team that’s allowing 115.4 points per game and the sixth-most points per first half (59.1).

Jerami Grant: More than 21.5 Points

Grant has become a linchpin of the Pistons attack, boasting a 26.6 percent usage rate and putting up a career-high 25.1 points on 18.5 shot attempts per contest. The veteran wing has also averaged 27.5 points on 49.5 percent shooting – including 39.5 percent from three-point range – over his two previous games versus the Bucks this season, and he’s put up at least 22 points in nine consecutive games.

Portland Trail Blazers at Sacramento Kings

MKF Contest: Fantasy Challenge (Win 1.5x your entry fee if three selected players exceed goal of 131.5 combined fantasy points)

MKF Fantasy Points Scoring System

  • Point= +1 point
  • Assist= +1.5 points
  • Rebound= +1.2 points
  • Steal= +3 points
  • Block= +3 points
  • Turnover= -1 point

Players: Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum and De’Aaron Fox

This high-usage trio looks the best combination from this game to have a shot at exceeding the fantasy-point goal, given each’s typical level of involvement and ability to contribute in multiple categories.

Lillard is averaging 26.1 points, 6.4 assists and 4.9 rebounds per contest, and although his efficiency (43.8 percent shooting) and usage (18.5 attempts per contest) are slightly down over last season, he’s also gotten his free-throw success rate back up to 91.2 percent after dipping to 88.8 percent in 2019-20.

One of the reasons for Lillard taking on a slightly lesser role at times is McCollum, who’s shooting a career-best 47.6 percent, including 44.5 percent from three-point range. He’s also producing career bests in assists (5.0) and steals (1.6), upping his overall fantasy upside significantly.

Finally, Fox boasts a 28.5 percent usage rate, and although his scoring is down to 18.3 points per contest (21.1 per game last season), he’s been over 20 points in five of the last eight games. Fox’s 5.4 assists and 1.5 steals per contest also help him round out his fantasy production when he’s not finding the net as consistently, and he should have the ball in his hands plenty in what should be a very fast-paced game featuring two teams ranked in the top 10 in possessions per contest.

Finally, consider Sacramento allows the second-most points per game (121.1) while Portland gives up the sixth-most (115.4), enhancing the fantasy environment for all three players.
