January 12 DFS Picks on Monkey Knife Fight

MKF Contest: Star Shootout

Pick 2/2 correctly to get 3.2x your buy-in

Kevin Durant, F, Brooklyn Nets: More than 29.5 Points

Durant is slated to once again take the floor without Kyrie Irving (personal), and KD demonstrated he had no aftereffects from his recent COVID-19 bout by posting 36 points on 52.4 percent shooting against the Thunder in his first game back Sunday.

The opposing Nuggets are allowing 112.8 points per game and are tied with the Cavs for fifth-highest three-point percentage surrendered (38.0), while Durant, who’s boasting a massive 36.7 percent usage rate without Irving on the floor this season, is shooting 51.6 percent, including a career-high 42.5 percent from behind the arc.

To top it off, the Nuggets are giving up a 47.2 percent success rate from the floor to power forwards, and Durant has scored between 28 and 36 points in all six games during which he’s played over 30 minutes.

Nikola Jokic, C, Denver Nuggets: More than 24.5 Points

Jokic has been on fire offensively, averaging a career-high 24.4 points on career bests in overall shooting percentage (58.7) and three-point shooting percentage (43.3). The versatile big man is also facilitating at an unprecedented rate (career-high 10.4 assists per game), so there are occasions when he takes a bit of a back seat scoring-wise.

However, the matchup against the Nets lines up well for one of his more prolific point tallies, considering Brooklyn’s No. 3-ranked pace (108.2 possessions per game) represents a significant bump for a Denver squad that averages 103.3 per contest.

The Nets are also allowing 113.0 points per game, have given up 38.1 percent three-point shooting in their last three and yield the ninth-highest offensive efficiency to centers (33.3), furthering Jokic’s case.

Indiana Pacers at Golden State Warriors

MKF Contest: 4-Point Play (Win 1.5x buy-in if selected players exceed Points + Threes goal of 62.5)

Players: Malcolm Brogdon and Stephen Curry

The Pacers check in allowing the second-highest three-point percentage (40.4) in the league, while the Warriors are right behind them with a 39.6 percent success rate from distance surrendered. Golden State is also affording opposing squads plenty of extra possessions, as they’re playing at the NBA’s second-fastest pace (108.5 possessions per game).

Meanwhile, Brogdon is shooting a typically ultra-efficient 49.7 percent, including an elite (and career-high) 46.4 percent from behind the arc. Also, although Curry is coming off a season-low 11-point effort on 2-for-16 shooting versus the Raptors, it goes without saying he can explode for an outstanding performance on any given night, especially when also considering Indiana is giving up 49.7 percent shooting to point guards, including 46.2 percent from three-point range.
