Giants-Bengals Players to Watch

NYG QB Daniel Jones has looked like a different QB over the past couple of games, both Giants’ wins. He threw for more than 200 yards and had one touchdown in each game (one rushing, one passing), but it’s the fact that he didn’t turn the ball over that has made all the difference. Jones also ran nine times for 64 yards and the above-mentioned rushing TD in the Giants’ Week 10 win over the Eagles. He’s had 45 or more rush yards in five of the 10 games this season, something that could also come into play on Sunday.

The Bengals secondary has also allowed 20 TDs to WRs and TEs this season, putting Darius Slayton, Evan Engram and the rest of the Giants’ receiving corps in a position to succeed.

Before the Giants’ Week 11 bye, NYG RB Wayne Gallman put up four games in a row with at least one rushing TD, and two in Week 10. Facing a Bengals D that has allowed six TDs on the ground as well as 100-plus rush yards in six games this season, Gallman could find the end zone again this weekend.

CIN QB Joe Burrow suffered a brutal knee injury last week, tearing his ACL and MCL. This puts Brandon Allen in line for the start, who was just activated from the Bengals’ practice squad this week. He played in three games with the Broncos last season, putting up 515 yards, three TDs and two picks while going just 39-for-84. With Allen getting the start, you have to downgrade all of the Bengals’ receivers, despite a somewhat favorable matchup against the Giants’ secondary.

It’s Cincinnati’s backfield, with Giovani Bernard (questionable) and Samaje Perine likely to split touches, that could break out. The Giants have allowed seven rushing TDs and also remain susceptible to the pass out of the back field. With a QB with little experience under center, expect lots of checkdowns to the RBs in Week 12.

Giants-Bengals Bet Tips

BEST BET: Giants -6 (-110)

The Giants are hot all of a sudden, following a 1-7 start to the season. Having won two in a row, and coming off a bye week, the Giants face a Bengals team in its first game without Burrow. There will likely be a learning curve for a team that’s already just 2-7-1 on the year. The G-Men have enough advantages in this one that I like them to win by at least a touchdown.

CONSIDER: Giants (-270)

This is a bet I’d consider as part of a parlay since the Giants should win the game. However, I don’t like the close to 3-to-1 odds on a 3-7 team on the road.

PASS: Over/Under 43 (-110)

With no data on the Bengals’ new starting QB, it’s tough to gauge how many points Cincinnati will score. They could put up a total dud, but we’ve seen a flash in the pan come up with a big game out of no where. I’ll pass on the over/under with so many other betting options available.
