Washington Football Team 2021 Schedule, Changes, and Outlook

The Washington Football Team is very difficult to analyze. On one hand, their defense is absolutely terrific and carried them to a postseason berth last season. On the other hand, their offense is pretty lackluster and could struggle to put up points.

Quarterback Taylor Heinicke was extended after starting the team’s Wild Card playoff game against Tampa Bay, although free-agent signing Ryan Fitzpatrick will likely lead the offense given his lengthier track record. Both are merely stopgaps, however, as Washington must find its quarterback of the future after releasing Dwayne Haskins last year.

The Football Team made some solid moves in the offseason to improve their roster, such as signing cornerback William Jackson III to a three-year deal. They also signed veteran Lamar Miller to provide depth at running back behind Antonio Gibson, plus added receivers Curtis Samuel and Adam Humphries to provide Fitzpatrick with more weaponry.

While Washington should be better on offense after ranking 25th in points per game last year, the defense remains strong after limiting opponents to the fourth-fewest points per game. Even if the Football Team struggles to score points consistently, their stingy defense will give them a fighting chance in most games.

Football Team Make 2021-2022 NFL Playoffs? NO (-165)

This is a tough one, but I lean no for the Football Team making the playoffs. Their defense is electric and their offense is decent, but you can’t predict the NFC East with any certainty. Washington could take it again, but the Giants and Eagles have both improved and the Cowboys should be better with a healthy Dak Prescott. There’s just too much variance here to bank on the Football Team, which is why I’m out on them this year.
