February 1 NBA Prop Bet Tips: Lauri Markkanen, Christian Wood

Last Updated: Feb 1, 2021

For Monday, Mike Barner has your February 1 NBA Prop Bet Tips and 2/1/21 NBA Player Prop Bets. All odds were obtained from PointsBet.

Coming off of a 6-3 week with my player prop picks, my overall NBA bets record for the season stands at 21-22 (-5.06 units). Monday brings a lot of opportunities for me to improve that mark with 10 games on the schedule. Here are three props that stood out amongst the crowd.

February 1 NBA Prop Bet Tips

Lauri Markkanen, Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks

Over 17.5 Points (-125)

Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 1.8 units)

[Pick id="4053"]

Lauri Markkanen missed time earlier in the season while in the league’s health and safety protocols. Since returning, he’s scored at least 18 points in five of seven games. The Bulls are without starting center Wendell Carter Jr. (quadriceps), which mas meant Markkanen has spent some time playing center when they go small. Add in the possibility that Otto Porter Jr. (back) misses this game and Markkanen should receive plenty of opportunities to hit the over.

RJ Barrett, New York Knicks at Chicago Bulls

Over 17.5 Points (-115)

Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 1.87 units)

[Pick id="4054"]

RJ Barrett has been among the leaders of the Knicks’ offense, scoring at least 19 points in eight of his last 10 games. He’s playing a ton at 36 minutes a night, which helps leave him with a high scoring floor when you combine that with his 23.7 percent usage rate. This is a great opportunity for him to keep things rolling since the Bulls have played at the second-fastest pace and have the fourth-worst defensive rating in the league.

Christian Wood, Houston Rockets at Oklahoma City Thunder

Over 32.5 Points + Rebounds (-120)

Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 1.83 units)

[Pick id="4054"]

Christian Wood has been a monster for the Rockets, averaging 23.6 points and 10.7 rebounds. After missing three games with an injury, he stormed back to provide 34 and 36 combined points and rebounds in his last two games, respectively. I like his chances of hitting the over on this number given that the Thunder have the eighth-worst defensive rating and have allowed the fifth-most rebounds per game in the league.
