Falcons Chargers Key Injuries

Falcons

WR Julio Jones remains on the injury report with a hamstring issue. After missing Week 12, Jones was his usual self, going for 96 yards on 6 catches and a team-leading 10 targets. With no practice reps as of Wednesday, Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage will need to continue to step up.

Chargers

The Chargers have a rash of injuries in their secondary. With both starting corners, Chris Harris and Casey Heyward, listed as questionable and starting safety Rayshawn Jenkins also on the injury report, the aforementioned Falcons’ receiving corps could have a nice day.

Falcons Chargers Players to Watch

ATL QB Matt Ryan only has four games this season with two or more passing TDs. He also hasn’t thrown for more than 285 yards in any of the Falcons’ last five games. However, this could be a week where the tide changes, facing a Chargers D that has allowed at least two passing TDs in six of its last seven contests.

LAC QB Justin Herbert‘s streak of 10 straight games with a touchdown pass ended last week in a 45-0 drubbing at the hands of the New England Patriots. But the Falcons defense is a much different beast.

Atlanta has given up the most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season, including six games with two or more passing TDs allowed and an average of 300.7 passing yards per game. Expect Herbert to target Keenan Allen and Mike Williams early and often in this contest.

Falcons Chargers Weather Report

The weather report at SoFi Stadium calls for a sunny and beautiful day with a high temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit. There is a 3% chance of rain and wind gusts of up to 8 mph in the forecast.

Falcons Chargers Bet Tips

BEST BET: Chargers +2.5 (-105)

Wait, just a second! Your best bet is a play on a team that just lost by the largest margin in its franchise’s history? Yes, that’s correct.

I’d love this play even more at +3, but the Chargers are in a great spot to bounce back against a Falcons team that will be a road favorite for the first time all season. The Chargers are 3-3 ATS as an underdog this year and I expect this one to end as a one-score game. That being said, I’m happy to take the points in a game I consider a coin flip.

CONSIDER: Chargers (+120)

I also like the Chargers as a moneyline play this week. The line opened at Chargers -1, which adds additional value to taking them as a home dog.

PASS: Under 49.5 (-110)

If you’re asking me whether you should take the over or under in this contest, I’d say over. But I’ll pass on the total altogether as bad teams often put up clunkers, making it slightly more difficult to rack up 50 points.
