Cowboys-Eagles Betting Guide

Cowboys-Eagles Odds and Betting Lines

  • Against The Spread: Eagles -9 (-110)/Cowboys +9 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Eagles (-411)/Cowboys (+310)
  • Total: 43 — Over 43 (-110)/Under 43 (-110)
  • Implied Team Totals: Eagles 26, Cowboys 17

At one time, this Cowboys-Eagles matchup was considered a marquee game. That is not the case in the present tense, however. Sure, this Sunday night football matchup has NFC East implications, but does anyone even care?

For the Cowboys, Andy Dalton is up in the air to play; he is in the league’s concussion protocol. If Dalton sits, Ben DiNucci will draw his first NFL start going up against an Eagles club that has won or tied in three of its past five games. Giddy-up.

Cowboys-Eagles Players to Watch

Eagles QB Carson Wentz has not played his best football against Dallas. In seven career games, Wentz is 3-4 against the Cowboys, losing three of his past four meetings against them.

However, Wentz will get a very different Cowboys team than he is used to facing. No Dak Prescott, an offensive line in shambles, and a defense that refuses to buy into Mike Nolan’s philosophy (I don’t blame them).

While Wentz has only thrown for two 300-yard games against Dallas out of seven tries, he does have a 12:2 TD:INT against them in his career.

Cowboys-Eagles Betting Guide: Ezekiel Elliott has to step up for waning Cowboys
Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has 100-plus yards in his past 5 meetings vs. Eagles. (USA TODAY Sports)

Getting rookie wideout Jalen Reagor back into the fold after his stint on Injured Reserve could be a huge help.

Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott normally plays some of his best football against Philadelphia. Outside of his last meeting with the Eagles last December, Elliott has totaled over 100 yards in five straight games — 5-of-6 overall — against them.

However, Elliott usually lit up the Redskins too and as we saw last week — Elliott totaled 51 yards on 13 touches — we simply can not depend on him or this Cowboys team to show up as they stand.

Cowboys-Eagles Weather Report

The weather report at Lincoln Financial Field calls for a rainy evening on Sunday night football with a 51-percent chance of precipitation.

The temperature for the game is forecast for 54 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of the opening kickoff with the temperature dropping into the high 40s as the game progresses.

Expect 16 mph winds going in the Southwest direction.

Cowboys-Eagles Betting Guide

BEST BET: Eagles -9 (-110)

This is a large spread and it is warranted. With DiNucci trending to be the Dallas starting quarterback, this could be a long game for the Cowboys on Sunday night football.

One of the things the Eagles do fairly well is rush the quarterback, which spells doom for the impending rookie starter.

While the Eagles are 2-6 against the spread this season, they would have to absolutely meltdown to not cover the nine points this week.

CONSIDER: Under 43 (-110)

While the total has met the over in four of the Cowboys’ last six games, Prescott was still leading the Dallas offense. In the two games sans Prescott, the Cowboys have totaled 13 points.

In the last seven meetings between the Eagles and Cowboys, the under is 5-2. The total is also 6-1 in the last seven games in which Philadelphia was a home favorite.

PASS: Cowboys (+310)

I should not have to get into why putting money on the Dallas Moneyline is a waste. In fact, even if Dalton were the starting quarterback for the Cowboys, I would still not consider it.

The Cowboys are a team that has quit on their coaching staff and by examining their recent roster moves — they have parted ways with veteran defensive starters to clear cap space — it is safe to assume the Jerry Jones also sees the writing on the wall and has also packed it in.

Barring a catastrophic meltdown, the Eagles should dominate.
