Dallas Cowboys 2021 Schedule, Changes, and Outlook
The Cowboys headed into the 2020 season brimming with optimism under new head coach Mike McCarthy, but things quickly went south after Dak Prescott‘s season-ending ankle injury in Week 5. Dallas promptly lost six of its next seven games, ultimately finishing at 6-10 and missing a prime opportunity to win the NFC East.
Prescott was off to a monster start before going down, so the hope is that he can pick up where he left off. Receivers Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb will all benefit from having him back under center. Prescott’s return should also help ignite Ezekiel Elliott, whose play suffered in his absence.
Fixing the defense requires more extensive work, however, after Dallas allowed the fifth-most points per game last year. Defensive coordinator Mike Nolan was fired as a result and will be replaced by Dan Quinn, who excelled in that role with the Seahawks before becoming head coach of the Falcons. Even if he can make the defense merely average, that will go a long way towards boosting the team’s playoff odds.
Cowboys 2021 Make Playoffs Bet: Yes Or No For Dallas?
Cowboys Make 2021 NFL Playoffs? YES (-150)
The Cowboys’ dismal 2020 should more or less seem like a surreal nightmare by the time the coming season concludes, assuming the team enjoys better health at key positions. If so, the offense has a chance to be among the league’s best, while the defense should see notable improvement as well. Dallas is the most talented team in an otherwise mediocre division, making a postseason appearance a strong possibility for them.
