Indianapolis Colts 2021 Schedule Opponents

  • x2 Houston Texans (Home, Away)
  • x2 Jacksonville Jaguars (Home, Away)
  • x2 Tennessee Titans (Home, Away)
  • vs. New England Patriots, New York Jets, Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Las Vegas Raiders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • @ Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers

Unfortunately, the Indianapolis Colts’ schedule doesn’t do them any favors. Not only is their non-divisional slate full of teams that improved during the offseason, but many of their most dangerous games also come on the road. Away contests against the Cardinals, Ravens, and Bills all stand out as difficult matchups, while home tilts against the Rams, Seahawks, Buccaneers, and Patriots figure to be challenging as well.

Still, the Colts’ schedule isn’t drastically tougher than those of other AFC South teams. In the end, all they need to do is finish at the top of the division. Given their offseason changes, they may be built to do just that.

For the third year in a row, the Colts will enter the season with a new signal under center. Following Philip Rivers’ retirement, Indianapolis traded for Carson Wentz, reuniting him with former Eagles offensive coordinator and current Colts head coach Frank Reich. Much like Rivers, Wentz has proven to be a volatile quarterback, but perhaps a change in scenery will revitalize his career.

Wentz joins a talented roster that won 11 games last year before narrowly losing to the Bills by three points on Wild Card Weekend. There haven’t been major losses outside of Rivers and left tackle Anthony Castonzo, who will be replaced by two-time Pro Bowler Eric Fisher. The Colts could still use help at wide receiver, however, and may fail to unlock Wentz’s full potential if they don’t surround him with additional weapons.

Again, all the Colts need to do is win their division, and they are clearly the best equipped to do so. Their defense is one of the NFL’s best, and Wentz should provide an upgrade at quarterback. If he stays healthy and gets his mojo back under Reich, Indianapolis could win the AFC South for the first time since 2014.
