Browns Jets Bet Tips

Odds & Betting Lines for Browns-Jets Picks

  • Against The Spread: Browns -10 (+100)/Jets +10 (-121)
  • Moneyline: Browns (-460)/Jets (+340)
  • Total: 47 — Over 47 (-115)/Under 47 (-105)
  • Implied Team Totals: Browns 28.5, Jets 18.5

The Jets finally picked up their first win of the year last week when they shocked the Rams following 13 consecutive losses. Look for the Jets to come back down to earth on Sunday facing a Browns team that has won five of their past six games.

The Browns are sandwiched in between the 11-3 Steelers and the 9-5 Ravens in the AFC North. Cleveland must win the game to keep up with the Steelers while a loss along with a Baltimore victory could ultimately cost the Browns playoff seeding or worse.

Browns-Jets Key Injuries

Browns

The Browns are not dealing with any new significant injuries that would impact Browns-Jets picks.

Jets

Jets DL Quinnen Williams is dealing with a concussion suffered in last week’s win over the Rams. If Williams can not clear the league’s concussion protocol in time to play the Browns, his absence will leave a tremendous hole on New York’s defensive line, which will play right into Cleveland’s hands as they are a run-dominant team.

Williams is the 15th best interior defensive lineman at Pro Football Focus. A disruptive force, Williams has 55 total tackles, 10 for a loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and three passes defended in 2020.

Browns-Jets Players to Watch

Browns WR Jarvis Landry had a sluggish start to the year, but he has picked up the pace in the past month.

In his past four games, Landry 8+ targets, 6+ receptions, and 61+ yards. Landry has also scored in three of those four games while posting 100+ yards once.

Now, Landry will get a Jets secondary yielding the third-most passing yards per game (279.8) with 16 touchdowns allowed to the wide receiver postion.

In 10 career games against the Jets stemming from his combined career in Miami and Cleveland, Landry has 60 receptions for 745 yards and three scores. He averages six receptions and 74.5 yards against the Jets. In three of his past four meetings with the Jets, Landry has gone for 100+ yards or a score.

Browns Jets Bet Tips and Browns-Jets Picks: Jamison Crowder still gives Jets hope in passing game
Browns-Jets Picks: Jamison Crowder could give New York hope in the passing game against Cleveland’s weak pass defense. (USA TODAY Sports)

This game features two of the most-talented slot receivers in the NFL. We already talked about Landry, now, it is time to give Jamison Crowder some love.

Crowder has been one of the bright spots on the Jets’ offense this season. He’s gone for 100+ yards or a touchdown in 5-of-10 games played. However, in five games since New York’s Week 10 bye, Crowder has not been as effective as he was earlier in the year. He has one game with a touchdown in each of his past five, going for two scores back in Week 13 against the Raiders. Crowder is currently riding a two games streak without a touchdown.

Crowder has also gone for fewer than 66 yards in each of his past seven games. His 66-yard outing came in last week’s win over the Rams. Crowder needs to play well to give the Jets a shot to win two in a row, an unlikely outcome.

Crowder gets a Browns defense allowing the 11th most passing yards per game (246.5) with 16 touchdowns surrendered to enemy wideouts. In Crowder’s only career meeting with the Browns as a member of the Jets which was last season, he was held to a 4/40/0 line.

Browns-Jets Picks & Best Bet

BEST BET: Over 47 (-115)

This game is difficult to project with the total and the spread. The Moneyline is easy.

I like the over as my Best Bet because of the knowns versus the unknowns. We know that the Browns’ offense is playing sensational football this season, especially recently now that Baker Mayfield is in a groove.

The Browns are scoring the 12th most points per game (26.3) while the Jets’ defense is allowing the fifth most PPG (29.5).

And although the Jets are scoring the fewest PPG (14.7), the Cleveland defense is surrendering the 10th most, which bodes well for the Over.

Last week’s win was an anomaly, clearly. Theoretically, the Jets should have not moved the football against the Rams. In this game, the Jets get a Browns’ defense that you can normally score on, even if you are the worst scoring offense in the league. Yes, they held the Giants to six points last week, but their offense is not the same without Daniel Jones.

The Jets have also scored 23+ points in four of their past six games. new York’s offense, by far, is amidst their best run of the year despite the fact that in the two games in which they scored fewer than 23, they totaled three points in each outing.

Meanwhile, the Browns have scored 40+ points in two of their past three games, being held to 20 in last week’s win over the Giants, which was also played at MetLife.

The Over is 3-1 in the Browns’ past four games, hitting the Under last week.

The Over is 3-3 in the Jets’ past six games, hitting the Under in two straight.

The Over is 2-4 in the past six meetings between the Jets and the Browns.

CONSIDER: Jets +10 (-121)

While this game is a mismatch in all phases, the Jets are playing teams tough of late. In four of their past six games, Jets games were decided by fewer than six-point deficits.

The Jets are 4-2 against the spread in their past six games, covering in two of their past three, including in last week’s win.

The Browns also let teams play them close. Eight of the Browns’ past 10 games have been decided by 10-point deficits, seven of which, by fewer than nine.

The Brons are 4-6 ATS in their past 10 games, 3-2 in their past five, covering last week.

The Jets are 5-2 in their past seven games against the Jets, failing to cover in two straight.

PASS: Jets (+340)

I am out on the Jets Moneyline this week. I know I said that it was impossible for the Jets to win last week and they did, I can’t back two straight wins for this team, especially over opponents with 9+ wins.
