Bengals-Texans Key Injuries

Bengals

With Joe Burrow out for the year and Brandon Allen logging a limited practice Wednesday, we will have to take a wait-and-see approach as to who will start at QB for the Bengals in Week 16. Ryan Finley recorded his first NFL win last week, but a decision has yet to be made as to who will be under center for the Bengals come Sunday.

Texans

The Texans’ receiving corps is beat up, to say the least. Will Fuller is suspended; Randall Cobb is on IR but could return this week; and Keke Coutee is questionable with an foot injury. The only WR not on the injury report is Brandin Cooks, and he missed the team’s Week 14 contest.

Bengals-Texans Players to Watch

CIN RB Giovani Bernard won a lot of fantasy contests last week, and he could be a factor again this week. Following 25 carries for 83 yards and a TD, he gets a Texans D that has allowed at least one rushing TD in 13 of its 14 games this year. Houston has also allowed at least 100 rush yards in six of its seven games since its Week 8 bye. Gio should have another big game this weekend.

HOU QB Deshaun Watson is arguably the only reason the Texans have four wins this season. He has more than 4,100 passing yards and 30 total TDs, including 10 games with at least two touchdowns in 14 contests. With a matchup against a Bengals D on a short week that has also allowed 26 passing TDs this year, Watson could have another big game on Sunday.

Bengals-Texans Weather Report

NRG Stadium has a retractable roof so weather should have no affect on this Week 16 contest.

Bengals-Texans Picks & Bet Tips

BEST BET: Texans (-375)

I hate typing this, but the one and only bet I’m at all comfortable with is the Texans to win the game. I hate that they are -385, but I’ll take Watson to beat Finley or Allen nine out of 10 times.

CONSIDER: Under 46.5 (-115)

I’m just playing the numbers here. The Texans have only hit the over once in six home games this season. The Bengals similarly have only hit the over twice in their seven 2020 away games.

PASS: Texans -8 (-110)

I simply can’t take a bad team to win by more than a TD, but I also can’t take the Bengals plus the points after the massive upset win on Monday night against the Steelers.
