April 5 MLB Prop Bet Picks

Francisco Lindor, New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies

To Record 3+ total bases (+105)

Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 2.05 units)

There’s a jump from -200 to +105 between the prop for 2+ total bases for Lindor to this one, making it all the more appealing for me. The star shortstop finally gets a chance to begin delivering on his record-setting contract after the weekend series against the Nationals was postponed, and Lindor draws a tantalizing matchup against Matt Moore to facilitate a big start.

Moore has throttled Moore for a .615 average in 13 career encounters, and he owns a career 301/.364/.487 slash against left-handed pitching, along with a .362 wOBA. That sample includes 105 extra-base hits (63 doubles, four triples, 38 home runs), giving Lindor a strong history of racking up total bases versus southpaws.

Michael Wacha, Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox

To Record A Win (+130)

Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 2.30 units)

The Red Sox looked positively lost during their three-game season-opening sweep at the hands of the Orioles, scoring all of five runs at Fenway. They remain home Monday but face a pitcher that comes into the season red hot in Wacha, who was brilliant this spring with a 0.60 ERA, .176 BAA and 12:2 K:BB over 15 frames. The right-hander made some adjustments this offseason after a rough season with the Mets in 2020, and he now gets a favorable matchup to open the regular season.

Wacha’s efficiency this spring was encouraging, and I see it buying him enough time on the mound Monday for a win against opposite number Nick Pivetta, who struggled to a 6.23 ERA this spring.
