Allen Robinson Tagged By Bears
The Bears made the right decision in placing their franchise tag on Allen Robinson. This is a team that desperately needed to keep their alpha number one wide receiver in the fold. Darnell Mooney showed flashes as a rookie, but he’s not ready to carry the load on the perimeter.
Robinson has established himself as one of the top wideouts in the NFL. He’ll be entering his age-28 season in 2021, so he’s still in his prime. Robinson caught 102-of-151 targets for 1,250 yards and six touchdowns this past season.
This is a player who has been able to produce on a consistent basis despite catching passes from mediocre quarterbacks like Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles.
The Bears have been rumored to be aggressively targeting an upgrade at quarterback, recently linked to Russell Wilson. While Wilson feels like a pipe dream, it’s clear that the team recognizes that Trubisky is not the answer. This bodes well for Robinson’s outlook.
Bears 2021 NFL Betting Outlook
Bears to win Super Bowl 56 (+5100) (BetMGM)
We have a buying opportunity here with this futures bet. The Bears are actively trying to upgrade at the quarterback position. It’s tough to see them trading for Wilson, but what if they do? If they picked up Wilson, their Super Bowl odds would skyrocket.
Wilson would be the best quarterback that Robinson played with and it isn’t particularly close. They would form one of the top quarterback-wide receiver duos in the NFL. The Bears also have a promising deep threat in Mooney as well as a solid running back in David Montgomery and ascending tight end in Cole Kmet.
The Bears still have a stout defense, ranking 8th in total DVOA in 2020. They finished 13th in pass DVOA and 4th in run DVOA. An upgrade at quarterback would put the defense in a better position to succeed. You would likely see improvement in their overall production if this were to happen.
Take advantage of these odds right now because if the Bears are able to do the unthinkable and land Wilson, they would likely become one of the favorites in the NFC. This is a team with an improving offense and solid defense, so they would have the pieces in place for a Super Bowl run.

Allen Robinson 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
Robinson finished as the WR13 in PPR points per game this past season, despite being forced to catch passes from Trubisky and Foles. This is a target monster who should remain on the WR1/2 fringe if the team retains Trubisky. If the Bears are able to upgrade at quarterback, Robinson would approach the Top-5.
This is a player who will remain as the alpha WR1 in Chicago. He finished with a 25.38% target share, ranking 12th in the NFL. Mooney is a good player, but he’s more of a deep threat who can take the top off the defense, not a player who will command significant target share.
Whether it’s making a splash for Wilson or Deshaun Watson, retaining Trubisky and moving up in the draft to select Mac Jones, I expect the Bears to do something at quarterback. That’s music to Robinson’s ears, as he’s had to play with Foles, Trubisky, and Blake Bortles throughout his career.
I would recommend trying to buy Robinson in dynasty leagues. This is a player who is still in his prime at the age of 28 and we all know how dynasty players tend to overvalue younger players. Take advantage of this ageism and try to pick up Robinson. I’d have no problem trading a flashy sophomore wide receiver like Tee Higgins for A-Rob.
