Aaron Rodgers Trade Rumors: Odds On Possible New Team

Things got a little bit more interesting on Aaron Rodgers trade rumors and odds as Rodgers was a no-show to the Green Bay Packers voluntary organized team activities. Rodgers has been a regular at offseason workouts and OTAs throughout his career as he’s had a $500,000 workout bonus in his contract.

However, despite that, Rodgers was a no-show to the Packers OTAs.

Rodgers has been open this offseason about wanting to leave the Packers after spending the past 16 seasons in Green Bay. Perhaps if the Packers acquire a receiver like Julio Jones, as is widely rumored, this might restore Rodgers’ confidence in the team. However, Rodgers might want out due to a reported lack of faith in the organization and especially general manager Brian Gutekunst.

The big date to watch out for is the start of the Packers’ mandatory minicamp, which starts June 8 and ends June 10. If Rodgers doesn’t show up then, he’ll be subject to a fine. That’ll truly mean the end of the Rodgers era in Green Bay.

With every passing day, it becomes more and more likely that Rodgers will not take another snap with the Packers. Of course, the question on everyone’s mind is to which squad will he get traded. Here are some of the possibilities:

Denver Broncos (+220)

FanDuel has the Broncos odds at +220 to land Rodgers, the leading favorite behind the Packers. It makes the most sense as Denver is seemingly putting the pressure on their young QB, Drew Lock, to succeed as the Broncos traded for Teddy Bridgewater this offseason.

The Broncos don’t have the same level of weapons the Packers have, but Denver’s receivers are young and would benefit significantly from a quarterback of Rodgers’ caliber. John Elway has been on the hunt for his guy since Peyton Manning retired, and he has the best odds to land another all-time great with Rodgers.

San Francisco 49ers (+2000)

FanDuel has the 49ers odds at +2000 to land Rodgers, making them tied for the 5th favorite to get him. Call me crazy, but this fit makes a lot of sense. Rodgers grew up about 3 hours away from San Francisco and played college ball 30 minutes away.

With the team drafting Trey Lance in the 2021 NFL Draft, it seems like the organization is ready to part ways with Jimmy Garoppolo. Similar to the Broncos, where Rodgers would inherit a young receiving corps, Rodgers would also inherit one of the best tight ends in the NFL in George Kittle. Everyone seems to forget this team was in a Super Bowl two years ago.

New Orleans Saints (+2000)

The Saints are tied 5th favorite to land Rodgers. With Drew Brees retiring, the Saints currently have a do-it-all player in Taysom Hill and a former No. 1 pick in Jameis Winston.

Not bad options, but it won’t get you 12 wins like last year.

With Rodgers, New Orleans would continue to be one of the top teams in the NFC. It would be like Brees never left, except now you bring back the deep-ball threat. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Saints stick with Winston/Hill, but imagine the offensive firepower New Orleans would have with Rodgers.

NOTE: FanDuel currently does not have the Green Bay Packers Win Total odds and Make Playoffs odds listed.

Aaron Rodgers Trade Rumors: How Would This Affect Green Bay Packers?

The Packers had the top-scoring offense last year, averaging 31.8 PPG, while also having the least amount of giveaways in the NFL - so it’s safe to say the offense was a well-oiled machine. The offense, along with the team as a whole, will take a hit losing Rodgers.

Any team would be worse after losing one of the best quarterbacks in the league. But it won’t be as bad as people think. The Packers still have the pieces to have a high-powered offense. Davante Adams is still one of the best receivers in the league, and Aaron Jones is coming off of back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

The Packers recently signed Blake Bortles, who should compete with second-year quarterback Jordan Love in this situation. Bortles has struggled over the past couple of years, bouncing around from team to team. On the otherside, it might not be time for Love to fully take over as the top option in Green Bay.

Either way, the Packers have the tools and weapons to make any quarterback look good. They won’t be at the top of the NFC without Rodgers, but they’ll still finish next year with a winning record.
