4 NBA Play-In Game Prop Bets For 2021 NBA Playoffs
Terry Rozier, PG, Charlotte Hornets: OVER 21.5 points (-115)
In his second year in Charlotte, Terry Rozier had a career season. He averaged over 20 points per game for the first time in his career and shot the highest field-goal percentage (45%) since entering the NBA. Now, his Hornets have a chance to make the playoffs and will be up against the Pacers in the play-in game.
On PointsBet, Rozier’s point total is set at 21.5 points, which feels a bit low. He finished the regular season as the team’s highest scorer and he’s always been a player that has performed well in the playoffs. Look for “Scary Terry” to shot close to 20 times on Tuesday, likely going over his point total with ease against the Pacers.
Russell Westbrook, PG, Washington Wizards: OVER 24.5 points (-112)
During his first year in Washington, Westbrook saw his field goal attempts drop from 22.5 in 2019-2020 to 19 in 2020-2021. For his career, he’s averaged just under 19 shots per game. But in the playoffs, Westbrook often shoulders an enormous load of the offense. During his playoff career, he has averaged 21.1 field goals per game and during the 2016-2017 playoffs, he averaged an absurd 30.4 field goal attempts per game.
While it’s unreasonable to think he will get to that number in their play-in game against the Celtics, don’t be surprised if Westbrook takes 20+ shots and scores over 24.5 points. It’s worth noting that his career playoff average for points per game sits at 24.8 and you know that Westbrook is going to want to score against the Celtics on Tuesday. Take the OVER on points here for Westbrook as he should shoot 20 plus times against Boston.
Will there be a fourth-quarter comeback in Spurs vs. Grizzlies? YES (+330)
This is one of my favorite bets of the week. At PointsBet, you can wager on if a fourth-quarter comeback will happen. For this to “hit," the team trailing at the end of the third quarter needs to win the game. In this contest between the Spurs and Grizzlies, they are so evenly matched that it’s hard to envision either team pulling away from one another.
It’s also worth noting that the average scoring margin through three quarters for the Grizzlies in 2020-2021 was +1.1 and -1.2 for the Spurs. These teams play in a ton of close games entering the final quarter and this one should be no different. So at +330 odds, sit back and relax and root for whatever team is down at the end of the third quarter. It is as simple as that.
Between 210-219 points scored in Warriors-Lakers (+290)
Game 7’s and one-game playoffs, such as this, tend to be a bit low-scoring. The game slows down for both sides and that can lead to lower-than-usual point totals. With all of the Lakers’ size in their frontcourt, you can count on them to slow the pace of this game down and try to overpower the Warriors.
Don’t be surprised if both teams struggle to score much more than 100 points as the Warriors lack scoring options after Steph Curry and the Lakers lean on their defense to win this game. Take the 210-219 band of total points scored as the payout is quite nice on a very likely outcome.
