NHL Bets of the Day 11/5/21

Chicago Blackhawks at Winnipeg Jets, 8:00 p.m. ET

Best Bet: Blackhawks Moneyline (+145) at BetMGM

Wager: 1 Unit

The lowly Chicago Blackhawks (1-8-2) have to win a little more often eventually, right? Chicago, at times, does not play as badly as its record. The Blackhawks have an excellent penalty kill (89.2%) and although their defense yields more than 35 shots per 60 minutes on the road, the Blackhawks are worth a risk Friday night in Winnipeg. Upsets happen.

Winnipeg gives up goals at a higher rate than most. Through nine games, the Jets have allowed an average of three goals per game and only have a +3 goal differential.

On the other hand, the Blackhawks have the second-worst goal differential in the league at -17. However, goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has looked a little better recently, allowing just a single goal in two of his last three starts.

Back the Blackhawks to pick up their first road victory of the year on Friday.

Nashville Predators at Vancouver Canucks, 10:00 p.m. ET

Best Bet: Predators Moneyline (+110) at BetMGM

Wager: 1 Unit

The Nashville Predators (5-5-0) head to Vancouver to face the Canucks (4-5-1) in this Western Conference matchup. The Predators and Canucks have been frustrating to bet on at times, but I firmly believe Nashville has the ingredients and goaltending to make another run to the postseason.

For this game, I believe there is value on the road team.

Nashville has looked pretty solid away from home so far this season, winning two of its four road contests, and most of that is due to the goaltending of Juuse Saros. The Predators’ goalie most recently stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced in Calgary to lead Nashville to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Flames.

Back the Predators to win outright on Friday night.

New Jersey Devils at Los Angeles Kings, 10:30 p.m. ET

Best Bet: Kings Moneyline (-125) at BetMGM

Wager: 1 Unit

The New Jersey Devils (4-3-1) will hit the road to face the Los Angeles Kings (4-5-1) on Friday night.

The Devils give up a bevy of high-quality scoring chances from the slot on both the penalty kill and at even strength. Meanwhile, Los Angeles has a top line that looks to get to the slot quickly and is plenty capable of taking advantage.

New Jersey has also had major issues on special teams so far this year, with its combined power play and penalty kill percentage (84.9%) ranking among the bottom five in the NHL.

The Devils have had their fair share of early-season injury troubles as well. Former No. 1 overall pick, Jack Hughes, remains out after suffering a dislocated shoulder on Oct. 19 and New Jersey could also be without Dougie Hamilton on Friday after the defenseman left Tuesday’s game against the Ducks with a lower-body injury.

Simply put, take the home team that’s in better shape and better form, entering the night on a three-game winning streak.
