Before the season started, if you told me that the Kansas City Chiefs started the year 3-4 and were coming off a brutal 27-3 loss to the Tennessee Titans, I would’ve assumed something bad had happened to Patrick Mahomes.
But Mahomes is fine, at least physically. He’s played every game, which means he hasn’t gotten seriously hurt or abducted by aliens.
Mahomes has just been mortal. While his 18 touchdown passes are impressive, his nine interceptions lead the NFL and are nearly as many as he tossed in his last two seasons combined (11). He’s also fumbled four times already — just one shy of his total from last season.
He and the Chiefs will try to turn things around this week on Monday Night Football against the 2-5 New York Giants, who are struggling with injuries at several key positions.
Kansas City should win handily, but with the way they’ve been playing this year that’s far from certain. Rather than trying to wager on the moneyline or spread, let’s explore some Giants vs Chiefs prop bets instead.

Giants vs. Chiefs Prop Bets: NFL Week 8 Prop Betting Picks
1st Score: Giants Field Goal (+450) at Caesars
This prop could very well come down to the coin flip at the beginning of the game. Even with all their injuries, the Giants’ offense has remained competent.
New York just scored 25 points against a tough Carolina Panthers defense on the road and should have a much easier time against the Chiefs, who rank as the second-worst defense in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus. Kansas City is last in coverage, run defense, and pass rush.
If the Giants win the coin toss, Daniel Jones should be able to move the ball down the field and get them into field goal range, where Graham Gano has been automatic this year (15-for-17).
Over 6.5 Total Touchdowns (+140) at Caesars
Given the talented quarterbacks and lackluster defenses on both sides, seven total touchdowns is certainly a possibility here.
While New York has a better defense than Kansas City (who doesn’t?), they’re still one of the weaker units in the league, ranking 22nd in coverage and 24th in pass rush.
Mahomes will be eager to put last week’s ugly loss behind him and could easily torch NY’s defense for three or four touchdowns.

The Chiefs are also capable of scoring on the ground, while Jones is capable of multiple scores given his rushing and throwing ability.
Even with the Giants’ injury concerns, there’s enough offensive talent (and lack of defensive talent) on both sides for us to see at least seven total touchdowns on Monday Night Football, making this our NFL bet of the day.
Under 50.5 Total Points (+110) at Caesars
With the standard total set at 52.5 according to our NFL gameday odds, the alternate line of 50.5 gives us a bit more value.
While this wager contradicts our prediction of seven touchdowns above, it’s a smart play for those who don’t expect the game to be particularly high-scoring. The Giants’ offense is averaging fewer than 20 points per game and could continue to struggle if Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, and/or Sterling Shepard are unable to play.
Mahomes, on the other hand, has more interceptions (five) than touchdown passes (four) over his last three games. If his turnover problems continue, this game will likely have fewer than 50 points.
