Steelers Prop Bets 2021: Best Pittsburgh Odds + Betting Picks

Last Updated: Aug 3, 2021

The Steelers went from looking like potential AFC champions at one point last season to limping to a division title and then getting ousted in upset fashion by the Cleveland Browns in the playoffs. Pittsburgh enjoys continuity with respect to the majority of its frontline players and is also poised to get several key defensive pieces back from injury as they look to rebound from last year’s poor finish. The Game Day is here to preview some of the best Steelers prop bets for 2021.

Pittsburgh Steelers Over 8.5 Regular-Season Wins (+100)

Despite a couple of notable offseason departures, the Steelers will enter the 2021 regular season with plenty of impactful, key faces on both sides of the ball. After an impressive 12-4 regular season in 2020, a 9-win tally over a 17-game regular season should certainly be within reach for a team that returns its long-tenured quarterback, top four receivers and top tight end, and most of its top-shelf defensive personnel. Although the Steelers’ strength of schedule (.574 opponent winning percentage) ranks as the NFL’s toughest, it’s difficult to envision 2021 being Pittsburgh’s first losing campaign since Mike Tomlin took over in 2007.

Pittsburgh Steelers To Win AFC North (+400)

The 2020 AFC North champions seem to be getting overlooked as the new season approaches, considering they have the third-longest odds in the four-team division. Although the AFC North is shaping up to be one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL, the value of taking a flier on the reigning champions is hard to pass up.

After posting a 4-2 mark against division opponents last season, the Steelers have continuity, an elite defensive unit that should significantly benefit from the return of standout linebacker Devin Bush, and the NFL’s third-best division record (153-86-1) during Tomlin’s 14-season tenure on their side in their quest to repeat.

Most Regular-Season Sacks: Pittsburgh Steelers (+550)

The Steelers have led or co-led the league in sacks every year since TJ Watt was drafted in 2017. With 42.5 sacks over the last three seasons alone, the star outside linebacker is arguably the best pure pass rusher in the NFL and will continue to play alongside both Cameron Heyward and Stephon Tuitt, who combined for 15.0 sacks themselves in 2020.

The Steelers did lose star linebacker Bud Dupree via free agency, though the expected emergence of sophomore Alex Highsmith after a 48-tackle, two-sack, one-interception rookie campaign, addition of veteran Melvin Ingram — who is reportedly healthy after back-to-back injury-shortened seasons — and the return of Devin Bush gives the Steelers a better-than-average shot at finishing at the top of this category for another year.

Steelers Prop Bets 2021: Player Bet Picks

TJ Watt To Win Defensive Player of the Year (+750)

TJ Watt has finished as a runner-up for this award in consecutive seasons despite popular opinion being that he deserved the honor in at least one of those years. Watt has proven to be one of the most dominant pass rushers in the NFL, improving against the run and in pass coverage since entering the league in 2017.

There is naturally still plenty of competition around the league — the most prominent being Aaron Donald, the incumbent — but at this price, it’s certainly worth taking a shot on Watt.

Najee Harris To Win Offensive Rookie of the Year (+1000)

The 2021 draft class featured multiple offensive players taken in the first two rounds that are expected to make an immediate impact on their squads. While many of those are receivers, Najee Harris is one of the few rookie runners that could be afforded what would be considered true workhorse-back volume.

With James Conner now in Arizona and Pittsburgh looking to shave down 2020’s 65.5 passing play percentage so as to reduce 39-year-old Ben Roethlisberger’s exposure, the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Harris certainly has the talent to parlay his rushing and receiving skills into excellent all-around production from Day 1.

JuJu Smith-Schuster: Over 82.5 Receptions (-115)

The Steelers led the league in pass attempts per game in 2020, leading to statistically impressive seasons for several Pittsburgh pass catchers. JuJu Smith-Schuster was among them, finishing with the second-highest reception total of his career (97) and serving as the beneficiary of many of the high-percentage throws from Roethlisberger.

Smith-Schuster rather surprisingly returned to Pittsburgh on a team-friendly, $8 million deal this offseason, and coming off a season in which he brought in an elevated 76.4 percent of his 128 targets, the 24-year-old should serve as a focal point of the passing game once again.
