Monday Night Football Predictions Week 4 – MNF Picks & Raiders vs Chargers Best Bets

Last Updated: Oct 4, 2021

The NFL season is off to a great start, as the first three weeks have been filled with fun games and drama.

One of the best stories from the first month of the season has been the AFC West, where the reigning AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs are shockingly in last place at 1-2. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, and Las Vegas Raiders have come out of the gates on fire, beginning the year a combined 8-1.

While it’s still far too early to predict anything with much certainty, the AFC West might be the best in the NFL. But who is the best team in that division?

We might have a better idea after Week 4’s Monday Night Football showdown between the Chargers and Raiders. As we look ahead to what should be an exciting game, let’s dive into the matchup and our best bets for Week 4 of the MNF football predictions series.

Please note that all odds are current as of 5 PM EST on Monday, October 4.

Monday Night Football Prediction Week 4

This Week 4 matchup will feature two of the best offenses in the NFL. The Raiders are averaging 30 points per game and lead the NFL in total yards (1,413), as Derek Carr is playing some of the best football of his career and currently leads the NFL with 1,203 passing yards.

The Chargers also have a strong offense led by Justin Herbert, who is coming off the biggest win of his career after throwing four touchdowns and outdueling Patrick Mahomes in Week 3 at Arrowhead Stadium.

This game should be another fantastic battle, as the last four games between these two teams have all been settled by one score. Given how well Las Vegas has played on offense this year, they should be able to prevail in a tightly-contested shootout.

MNF Week 4 Pick: Raiders 30, Chargers 28

Monday Night Football Best Bets Week 4

MNF Best Bet: Raiders +3 (-110) at BetMGM

Wager: 1 Unit

While the Raiders are 3-0, the Chargers are still being viewed as home favorites by three points, per our NFL gameday odds. Given how evenly matched these two teams are, however, it’s hard not to take Las Vegas and the three additional points.

Look for the Raiders to find success on the ground, especially if Josh Jacobs returns after missing the last two games with ankle and toe injuries. The Chargers have allowed a whopping 5.8 yards per carry this season — the worst in the NFL. If Las Vegas can control the clock and move the chains, they shouldn’t have a problem stealing this game on the road.

It’s also worth noting that Jon Gruden’s team is 7-2 in away games since the beginning of last year. Los Angeles doesn’t have much of a home-field advantage, and it’s quite possible that there will be more Raiders fans in the building than Chargers fans. All those factors combined make Las Vegas an easy underdog pick against the spread on Monday Night Football in Week 4.

MNF Best Bet: Over 51 points (-115) at BetMGM

Wager: 0.5 Units

Points are going to come early and often in this game. While both defenses are currently inside the top-15 in fewest points allowed, these offenses are just too difficult to slow down. With so much firepower on both sides, both teams are capable of approaching 30 points in a game that has all the makings of a shootout.

It’s worth mentioning that the Over has hit in seven of the last eight games for Las Vegas, as they tend to play in high-scoring contests. The Under has hit in four of the last five games for Los Angeles, however, as their defense has improved considerably this year.

That said, look for this to be a high-scoring game on Monday Night Football where the winner scores into the low-to-mid 30s. Plus, it’s always more fun to root for points in big primetime games like this, right? Take the Over and enjoy the fireworks.
