Eagles vs Broncos Predictions Week 10 | NFL Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Nov 12, 2021

We witnessed quite a few upsets in Week 9 of the 2021 NFL season, including a surprising win for the Denver Broncos over the Dallas Cowboys. Following their road victory against the Cowboys, the Broncos will head back home to face another NFC East foe in the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10.

Denver improved to 5-4 on the season with its win over Dallas, keeping pace in a crowded AFC West as each team in the division has five wins thus far.

Meanwhile, the Eagles just lost a hard-fought game to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9, falling to 3-6 on the season. Philadelphia now sits 3.5 games behind the Cowboys in the NFC East standings, but still has an outside shot at a Wild Card bid if it can turn things around.

Can Philadelphia march into Denver and secure its fourth road win of the season or will the Broncos prove to be too much for the inexperienced Eagles in a hostile environment?

Eagles vs Broncos Prediction

The Broncos are likely feeling extremely confident after walking into Dallas and defeating the Cowboys in Week 9. The Cowboys have been considered contenders in the NFC this season, so to beat them in front of their home crowd – especially after trading Von Miller – is an impressive feat.

Teddy Bridgewater is never going to be a team’s long-term solution at quarterback, however, he’s shown that he can be more than serviceable as a bridge to the future. And with Jerry Jeudy back in the fold for the Broncos following a stint on injured reserve, Denver has a dynamic trio of wide receivers with Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, and Tim Patrick.

What could cause the Eagles some trouble in Week 10 is the fact that the Broncos also have two capable running backs in Melvin Gordon and rookie Javonte Williams. Philadelphia ranks 22nd in rush DVOA, allowing 119.7 rushing yards per game (13th most in the NFL).

On the offensive side of the ball, it’s tough to predict what we’re going to get from Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. Hurts is always going to produce with his legs, but can he deliver through the air consistently when he needs to? That remains to be seen.

Running the ball on the Broncos is easier said than done. Denver has limited opponents to 98.3 rushing yards per game, which is the sixth-fewest in the league.

Since Denver is capable of making Philadelphia one-dimensional and forcing Hurts to pass more often, I see the Broncos extending their winning streak to two games.

Prediction: Broncos 24, Eagles 17

Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has shown he’s plenty dangerous with his legs, but to beat the Broncos in Week 10 he’ll have to find success through the air as well. (Image: USA TODAY Sports)

Eagles vs Broncos Best Bets

Skyler Carlin 2021 NFL Betting Record: 3-7-0

Best Bet: Broncos -2.5 (-110) at Betfred

Wager: 1 Unit

It looks as if the Broncos took the idea of them giving up on the season after the Von Miller trade personally. Denver proceeded to steamroll Dallas on the road in Week 9, showing that it still has enough talent to compete with some of the best teams in the NFL.

After taking down the Cowboys, the Broncos draw the Eagles, who have lost three of their past four games. Two of those losses have come against other AFC West teams, with the Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders defeating the Eagles by a combined 14 points.

This game is going to come down to which quarterback makes more mistakes as both teams prefer to lean on their rushing attacks. With Hurts playing in a tough environment in Denver, I lean toward him being the one to make a couple of mental errors, especially against a defensive-minded coach in Vic Fangio that knows how to pester young quarterbacks.

Once the Broncos grab an early lead, they’ll lean on their duo of Gordon and Williams to secure the victory over the Eagles.

Although Denver is just 2-2 against the spread this season when playing at home, I’ll back the Broncos here as I believe they can win by at least a field goal.

Best Bet: Broncos Moneyline (-145) at Betfred

Wager: 1 Unit

I considered taking the under on this game due to Denver likely being able to dictate the tempo of the contest, but I’m not confident enough to wager anything on the total. Also, it’s more fun rooting for a shootout than a low-scoring affair, so whenever I can avoid siding with an under, I’ll happily do it.

Instead, I’ll just go ahead and take the Broncos on the moneyline as our NFL bet of the day. The Eagles are 4-13 straight up in their past 17 games, so it’s hard to envision them walking into Denver and securing a victory against the Broncos.

Hurts is going to have a tough time getting much going through the air and if the Eagles are forced to play from behind, it could get ugly for Philadelphia. On the other side, Bridgewater shouldn’t have many problems airing it out against an Eagles defense that has surrendered 250+ passing yards in four of its past six games.

The only two instances where the Eagles didn’t allow 250+ passing yards in their past six games came against Sam Darnold and Jared Goff. With the Broncos chasing another victory to remain in the AFC West race, I expect them to win with relative ease against a rebuilding Eagles squad.
