After finishing the 2020-21 campaign with an underwhelming 6-10 record, the San Francisco 49ers will look to kick it into gear this year. Last season was not particularly the Niners’ fault considering the number of key injuries they sustained in the early portion of the regular season, including starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and All-Pro tight end George Kittle.
The roster framework of the team that put up an admirable effort against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl is still there. When healthy, this team is still very capable of having a contender type of ceiling. Garoppolo will need to take a step forward in his progression this season if the 49ers really want to be in that conversation, though.
The 49ers will enter the season with Raheem Mostert as their primary running back, and will have Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk picking up most of the targets with a healthy Kittle in tow. Mohamed Sanu Jr., Travis Benjamin and Trey Sermon could also figure into the mix at various points in the season.
The 49ers also have a solid defense, with Arik Armstead, Javon Kinlaw, and Nick Bosa composing a strong force. Emmanuel Moseley, Jaquiski Tartt, and Jason Verrett will also enter camp as the de facto starters in the secondary.
49ers 2021 Make Playoffs Bet: Yes Or No For San Francisco?
49ers Make 2021 NFL Playoffs? NO (+145)
The NFC West figures to be one of the strongest divisions in the NFL this season, and the 49ers are pretty clearly the third-best team in it. The Seattle Seahawks will always be a threat with Russell Wilson and their defensive core, while the Los Angeles Rams figure to be a Super Bowl contender with Matthew Stafford at the helm. It’s hard to imagine San Francisco toppling either one of those teams, and the value for NO at (+145) is just too good to pass up.
