The New England Patriots are never to be counted out, even without Tom Brady in tow. With elite coaching and front office personnel, they are sure to outfit an excellent roster in terms of fit despite not having many name-brand players.
Mac Jones was the Patriots’ first-round draft pick as was not exactly expected. While I am not personally a fan of Jones, the Patriots got an undeniable value on him as he fell. The Pats will likely start the season with Cam Newton regardless, but it’s not hard to envision him losing his job to Jones by the end of the season. The Patriots’ performance this season hinges on their quarterback play in all likelihood.
The Patriots love their two tight-end sets and wound up signing both Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith to give more weapons to their quarterbacks in addition to newly-signed Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne. The defense is always excellent and the Pats went and signed a few defensive tackles and secondary pieces to supplement their core. The addition of offensive tackle Trent Brown is also enormous for the future at quarterback.
Patriots 2021 Make Playoffs Bet: Yes Or No For New England?
YES (+135)
This is purely a value pick. I seem to be higher on the Patriots than the oddsmakers are, but I don’t know if my lean on YES (+135) is a product of me being lower on their division or higher on their team. Still, I view the YES on plus odds to be the play here.
