While the NBA officially returned Tuesday, we only had two games to enjoy. Wednesday brings plenty of excitement with 11 games on the schedule. That leaves us with a ton of wagers to wade through. Here are three that could prove to be profitable.
NBA Prop Bets of the Day: Best Basketball Props Today 10/20/21
Chicago Bulls at Detroit Pistons (7:00 p.m. ET)
Zach LaVine: Under 4.5 Assists (-135) at BetMGM
Wager: 1 unit
Last season, the Bulls offense started and ended with LaVine. They did eventually get him some help by trading for Nikola Vucevic, but if LaVine wasn’t going off in a given game, the Bulls had little chance of winning. The end result of his efforts were lofty averages of 27.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists, all career highs.
This season, LaVine won’t be required to shoulder as much of the load. The Bulls brought in Lonzo Ball and DeMar DeRozan, while also adding Alex Caruso to be a key guard off their bench. Ball and DeRozan are excellent passers and should have the ball in their hands a lot, which could limit assist opportunities for LaVine. During the preseason, he only averaged 3.3 assists across four games.

Chicago Bulls at Detroit Pistons (7:00 p.m. ET)
Lonzo Ball: Over 1.5 Steals (+120) at Caesars
Wager: 1 unit
Ball might be the perfect fit with the Bulls. They needed someone to help share the ball-handling duties with LaVine, which he can certainly do. They also badly needed someone who can slow down opposing point guards, which Ball is adept at. He’s never averaged fewer than 1.4 steals per game in any season of his career.
The Bulls want Ball to be aggressively defensively. During the preseason, he averaged 2.5 steals over 29 minutes per game. With inexperienced point guard Killian Hayes running the Pistons’ scoring attack, Ball could rack up steals in bunches. Add in the plus odds and this is an appealing wager.
Houston Rockets at Minnesota Timberwolves (8:00 p.m. ET)
Kevin Porter Jr.: Over 28.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115) at Caesars
Wager: 1 unit
A fresh start with the Rockets appeared to be what Porter needed to get his career on track. He played a lot down the stretch with the team tanking last season, which helped him average 16.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists.
The key is that he averaged 32 minutes per game, a figure that he could duplicate this season with John Wall not playing as the team tries to trade him. With plenty of minutes likely coming his way against a Timberwolves team that had the third-worst defensive rating in the league last season, Porter could stuff the stat sheet in this matchup.
