MLB Props of the Day: Best Baseball Props Today 10/5/21
New York Yankees @ Boston Red Sox (8:08 p.m. ET on ESPN)
Rafael Devers: Record 2+ Total Bases (-150)
The Red Sox clinched a postseason berth with a two-run center-field bomb from third baseman Rafael Devers. Devers hit .279 this season, along with 38 home runs and 113 RBI’s.
Beyond that, he’s been absolutely clutch for this Red Sox team against righties. Since the start of September, Devers, a left-handed hitter, has a .313 ISO and wOBA of .435 against righties through 73 plate appearances.

Devers has an OPS of 1.052 with an average of .328 against righties since September. The left-hander has also been a bit aggressive at the plate, striking out 30.1 percent of the time and walking 9.6 percent of the time.
When taking total bases, note that a walk is not a total base. So finding a hitter that is aggressive at the plate for these props is crucial. Devers is 4-for-19 against Gerrit Cole for his career with eight strikeouts. However, three of those four hits have been home runs.
When he connects against Cole, the ball is heading to the fence. All we need is a double from Devers (or two base hits). A homer would do the trick too.

Giancarlo Stanton: Record A Home Run (+320)
If there’s anyone on the Yankees that can do damage against Nathan Eovaldi, it’s Giancarlo Stanton.
Since the start of September, Stanton has an .866 OPS with a .289 ISO, wOBA of .359, and a BABIP of .313 in 80 plate appearances against RHP.
For his career against Eovaldi, Stanton has gone 7-for-27 with two doubles along with two home runs. He leads the Yankees in home runs against Eovaldi and has been seriously red hot in the last month or so, hitting bomb after bomb to put the Yankees in position to make the playoffs.
Stanton will be swinging for the fences. It’s either going to be a high strikeout night or a big power night for Stanton. Let’s take that risk.
In Boston, a hitter-friendly ballpark, Stanton can absolutely hit a tank out of the ballpark and into the streets over the Green Monster.
