MLB Props of the Day: Best Baseball Props Today 10/8/21
Lucas Giolito: Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-135) at DraftKings
Chicago White Sox @ Houston Astros, 2:07 ET
Lucas Giolito has been phenomenal in the second half, posting a 2.65 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 76 strikeouts in 74 2/3 innings since the All-Star Break. He also compiled a 27.9% strikeout rate for the season — ranking 12th among starters — and dominated the Houston Astros the lone time he faced them, pitching a complete game with eight strikeouts.
Giolito has notched at least five whiffs in 24 of his 31 starts this season. While the Astros were the hardest team to strike out this year (19.4% K rate), this number is simply too low. The White Sox need a quality outing from Giolito after Lance Lynn struggled in Game 1, so look for him to step up in Game 2.

Corbin Burnes: Under 8.5 Strikeouts (-145) at DraftKings
Atlanta Braves @ Milwaukee Brewers, 4:37 ET
Corbin Burnes is a strikeout machine, leading all starters with a 35.6% strikeout rate and 12.6 K/9 this year. He also racked up at least nine strikeouts in 14 of his 28 starts this year.
When looking at this line on paper, it would appear that the value would be on the Over, but that’s not the case. Starters rarely go deep into postseason games, limiting their strikeout opportunities. This is simply too high of a number to lay with Burnes since he might only go five or six innings for Milwaukee, regardless of how well he’s pitching.
Rafael Devers Over 1.5 Total Bases (+120)
Boston Red Sox @ Tampa Bay Rays, 7:02 ET
Rafael Devers ended the regular season on a tear, batting .357/.386/.667 with four homers over the final 10 games. While he’s just 1-for-6 in the postseason thus far, he’s in a good spot tonight against Shane Baz given his .978 OPS against right-handed pitchers this year.
Look for Boston’s bats — including Devers — to bounce back after getting shut out in Game 1. While Baz has looked sharp so far, this is still a rookie who’s only making his fourth career start in the big leagues. All it takes is a double or two singles for this prop to hit, which Devers is certainly capable of after clubbing 76 extra-base hits and slugging .538 this year.
Trea Turner Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105)
Los Angeles Dodgers @ San Francisco Giants, 9:37 ET
Trea Turner is another red-hot hitter that we need to attack in this spot, despite the tough matchup against Logan Webb. Turner finished the regular season on fire with a 19-game hitting streak, slashing .403/.459/.740 with 12 extra-base hits.
While the line is relatively low at +105, we have to keep riding the wave with Turner. Like I said with Devers, all it takes is a double for this MLB player prop bet to cash. After leading the NL in total bases this season (319), Turner is a great choice for our MLB bet of the day.
