MLB Props of the Day: Best Baseball Props Today 10/16/21
Nathan Eovaldi: Under 15.5 Outs (-167) at BetMGM
Boston Red Sox @ Houston Astros, 4:20 ET
Nathan Eovaldi posted a 25.5% strikeout rate this season, but this Astros lineup is simply on fire right now. Lance Lynn (3.2 IP, 4 K), Lucas Giolito (4.1 IP, 4 K), Dylan Cease (1.2 IP, 2 K), Carlos Rodon (2.2 IP, 3 K), and Chris Sale (2.2 IP, 2 K) have each been pulled early from their outings against the Astros during this postseason.
The Red Sox are desperate for this game after dropping Game 1, so it’s likely that they’ll have a quick hook with Eovaldi here. It’s really tough to see him going more than five innings in this spot.
While the righty has been dominant this postseason, he was still limited to a combined 10.1 innings in his two playoff starts, even though he was pitching so well.

Kiké Hernandez: Over 1.5 Total Bases (+120) at BetMGM
Boston Red Sox @ Houston Astros, 4:20 ET
How can we bet against Hernandez right now? He’s absolutely on fire, going 13-for-21 (.619) with four doubles, four homers, and eight RBI in his last four games. Hernandez has racked up 10, 1, 6, and 11 total bases during that stretch.
It’s a good idea to ride the wave with hot streaks in baseball, so we’ll make this play on Hernandez because of how well he’s hitting right now. Astros starter Luis Garcia has really struggled in his last two starts, allowing 11 runs in 7.2 innings.

Luis Garcia: Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-133) at BetMGM
Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox, 4:20 ET
It’s hard to trust Garcia right now. I’ve already mentioned his struggles in his last two outings, but he’s also not exactly a big strikeout pitcher to make him trustworthy to hit the Over on this prop. Garcia has posted a 26.4% strikeout rate, but he’s failed to rack up five or more strikeouts in four of his last five starts.
We’ve seen how teams are quick to pull their pitchers at the first sign of trouble in the playoffs, so the Under looks like the right side here.
