MLB Betting Props of the Day: Best Baseball Prop Picks Today

Garrett Richards, SP, Boston Red Sox @ Toronto Blue Jays (7:07 p.m. ET)

Under 3.5 Strikeouts (+105)

Wager: 1 unit

Richards and the Red Sox come into tonight’s game against the Blue Jays as +165 road underdogs. The game also has a total of 10.5 runs, and when looking to bet the under on strikeouts I typically look for a big dog on the road and a high total.

With a 7.11 ERA over his last seven starts, Richards is holding onto his rotation spot by a thread and this could be the final nail in the coffin. He’s averaging just three strikeouts per start during that stretch and has gone under four in five of his last six turns.

To make matters worse for Richards, Toronto ranks first in the American League in home runs, slugging percentage, and OPS. The 33-year-old righty has struggled in three starts against them this year with a 5.40 ERA, a 2.04 WHIP, and more walks (12) than strikeouts (10) in 16 2/3 innings. Given his recent woes, look for Richards to get an early hook and fall short of four punchouts in this tough road matchup.

Dylan Cease, SP, Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins (8:10 p.m. ET)

Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-160)

Wager: 1 unit

Cease and the White Sox enter Wednesday night’s game as solid -145 home favorites against the 40-55 Twins. Chicago’s odds still feel low based on where I have them power-ranked, especially against Minnesota who continue to be overpriced.

Cease has been one of the best strikeout pitchers in baseball this year, ranking third in the AL with an 11.7 K/9 rate. He’s hit the over on this line in 10 of his last 15 starts, including six of his last seven home starts.

The 25-year-old righty has been exceptional at home this year with a 2.15 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, a 12.0 K/9 rate, and a .607 opponent OPS in nine home starts. In his two home outings against the Twins, Cease recorded seven strikeouts both times.

Minnesota is also on the final game of a rough road trip in which they’ve lost five of six while averaging just 2.5 runs per game. Look for Cease to exploit the slumping Twins and notch at least seven whiffs again.
