MLB Betting Props of the Day: Best Baseball Prop Picks Today

Zack Wheeler, SP, Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves (7:05 p.m. ET)

Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-125)

Wager: 1 unit

This is a great spot for Wheeler tonight at home, as Philadelphia is a -160 favorite with a low total of 7.5 runs. His strikeout prop is 7.5 and he’s averaging 8 strikeouts per game on the season, including 8.7 punchouts per start over his last 11 turns. Atlanta is without Ronald Acuña Jr. and its lineup is projected to be one of the weakest on the slate this evening.

Wheeler has faced the Braves three times this season with 26 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings alongside a 1.37 ERA and a 0.81 WHIP. He’s also been a better pitcher at home this year, compiling a 2.16 ERA, a 0.80 WHIP, and a 9.2 K/BB ratio in 11 starts at Citizens Bank Park.

The prop number is a tad low here as Atlanta has not struck out much in its last five games, but its lineup is weak and the National League strikeout leader should be able to add at least eight more to his ledger tonight.

Tyler Mahle, SP, Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals (7:10 p.m. ET)

Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-118)

Wager: 1 unit

Mahle and Cincinnati enter Friday night’s game against St. Louis as -160 home favorites with a total of 9.5 runs. The Reds have a significant edge in the starting pitching matchup as Wade LeBlanc projects as a bottom-five pitcher on tonight’s slate. With Mahle likely working with a lead, he should be able to go at least six innings, which he’s done in five of his last eight starts.

Mahle has averaged 6.6 strikeouts per start this year and has hit this over in seven of his last nine starts. He also has impressive numbers against the Cardinals in two starts this season, racking up 17 strikeouts in 12 innings with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. St. Louis has struggled to hit on the road all year and even though their strikeout numbers are low, Mahle should be able to register at least seven whiffs tonight.
