With Labor Day behind us, we now have less than a month remaining in the 2021 MLB regular season! My MLB betting tips today and going forward will likely include teams fighting for playoff spots in September. The other teams are going to start playing random minor leaguers and we don’t want to take chances with those guys.

MLB Bet Of The Day 9/7/21
Chicago White Sox @ Oakland Athletics (9:40 p.m. ET)
- Probable Pitchers: CHW RHP Jimmy Lambert @ OAK RHP James Kaprielian
I’m not the biggest fan of the Oakland Coliseum when I’m looking to bet overs, but I’ll bite on this one. With Lucas Giolito landing on the IL, the Chicago White Sox are expected to start Jimmy Lambert tonight after promoting him from Triple-A.
Lambert has made three appearances this year (two starts), none of which have been pretty. In total, he’s allowed eight runs in eight innings on 13 hits, including three homers. The 26-year-old was never much of a prospect and has struggled in both the majors and minors, which I expect to continue against the Oakland A’s tonight. The A’s have been swinging hot bats lately, averaging 6.8 runs per game over their last six contests.
Meanwhile, Lambert will go up against James Kaprielian, who has also struggled of late with a 6.67 ERA over his last six starts. He’ll have his hands full against the White Sox, who are one of the better offensive teams in baseball this year and have averaged 6.9 runs per game over their last nine games.
In a matchup between two hot lineups with a pair of struggling pitchers on the mound, both sides should see plenty of scoring opportunities early on. Lambert in particular is a good bet to get hammered by Chicago’s powerful offense. Accordingly, I’ll pay up for the juice for there to be at least five runs scored in the first five innings.
