The NFL season moves quickly. We are already heading into Week 4. Each week it becomes more important to add depth to your team as injuries happen throughout the year.

We need to react quickly without overreacting. I’ll help you decide which fantasy football waiver wire pickups you should be making that could benefit your fantasy teams now, later in the season, or just for the upcoming Week 4.

2021 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 4: Top Pickups

Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers (25% rostered)

Sometimes in fantasy football, you need to take advantage of temporary benefits. Chuba Hubbard is a perfect example.

When Christian McCaffrey was ruled out of the Thursday Night Football game, Hubbard filled the void as best he could.

Hubbard was efficient with his touches, running for 52 yards on 11 carries and catching 3 of his 5 targets for 27 yards. CMC is expected to be out for at least a few weeks, and the Panthers do not want their star running back rushing his healing process if they can help it.

Hubbard will play a big role in this offense while McCaffrey is sidelined and he is someone you should be able to acquire fairly cheap considering his expected volume for the next few weeks. He’s a great insurance policy to have rostered should McCaffrey miss more time than expected.

  • Chuba Hubbard Week 4 FAAB Bid: $16

Sam Darnold, QB, Carolina Panthers (21% rostered)

I mentioned Sam Darnold as a one-week streamer in last week’s waiver article, but he really should be rostered everywhere on a full-time basis.

Darnold has thrown 34 or more times in each of his first 3 games as a Panther and has completed a total of 73 passes on the year. He has thrown over 300 yards in each of his last two weeks and has shown he can get things done on the ground with 3 rushing touchdowns to pair with his 3 passing scores.

With the injury to Christian McCaffrey, the Panthers’ offense will flow through Sam Darnold even more. He’s currently a top-10 fantasy quarterback with no signs of slowing down.

  • Sam Darnold Week 4 FAAB Bid: $14

Christian Kirk, WR, Arizona Cardinals (51% rostered)

After 3 weeks, Christian Kirk leads the Arizona Cardinals with 15 receptions. He also has the most receiving yards with 239. This is impressive, considering DeAndre Hopkins is on this team.

Kyler Murray is finding out just how reliable Kirk is and is becoming one of his favorite targets. Kirk is coming off his best performance of 2021 with 7 catches on 8 targets for 104 yards. We could see similar production moving forward as long as he remains consistent, catching the majority of his targets.

DeAndre Hopkins is dealing with a rib injury, which could also have and (if it lingers) could still lead to Kirk’s increased involvement.

The Arizona Cardinals offense is jam-packed with talent and fantasy upside. If you have a chance to add a Kyler Murray weapon, I encourage you to do so.

  • Christian Kirk Week 4 FAAB Bid: $13

Zach Pascal, WR, Indianapolis Colts (26% rostered)

Often times the WR2 in an offense can be forgotten. That appears to be the case with Zach Pascal. He is second in targets, receptions, and receiving yards on the Colts, but is the only wide receiver with touchdown receptions (3).

Pascal has come through when it counts. He leads the team in red-zone production. He has caught all three of his red-zone targets, each time for a score.

If Carson Wentz and the Colts can become a bit more consistent in offensive production, Zach Pascal will be someone you’ll want as a weekly flex option when needed.

  • Zach Pascal Week 4 FAAB Bid: $6
Christian Kirk, WR, Arizona Cardinals

2021 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 4: Best Players To Stash

NEW - T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts (19% rostered)

If you have IR spots in your leagues, you should be using them for guys like T.Y. Hilton. It’s a free placeholder! Hilton underwent neck surgery prior to the season, which led him to be placed on the injured reserve.

The Colts’ offensive hasn’t been too impressive so far this season and could use a spark. Once Hilton returns, he’ll provide Carson Wentz with another viable wide receiver to target. Although Michael Pittman has been the top target, Hilton is a consistent veteran that Wentz could use as a safety blanket going forward.

Reports are saying Hilton could return as soon as this week. Regardless, you will want to have him stashed for when he is ready to take the field. Hilton had 93 targets in this offense last year.

  • T.Y. Hilton Waiver Wire FAAB Bid: $7

NEW - Jakobi Meyers, WR, New England Patriots (58% rostered)

Given the early struggles from rookie quarterback Mac Jones, receiving options in New England is a bit of a risk from a fantasy perspective. On the other hand, it’s only a matter of time until Jones finds his groove in this complex offense. Once he does, you’ll wish you had his top target.

Many believed Hunter Henry and/or Jonnu Smith would be favored in the receiving game, but it’s been all Jakobi Meyers. He leads the Patriots in targets (29), receptions (19), and receiving yards (176).

Meyers has yet to have a game with fewer than 6 targets and will be heavily targeted against the Buccaneers this week and any high-powered offenses for the rest of the year. Roster him now if he’s available in your league.

  • Jakobi Meyers Week 4 FAAB Bid: $6

NEW - Braxton Berrios, WR, New York Jets (1% rostered)

Braxton Berrios is coming off an underwhelming performance, which is often the best time to acquire someone for cheap. He began the first 2 weeks of the season with 12 catches on 18 targets for 124 receiving yards. In Week 3, however, he had just 2 catches on 3 targets for 26 yards.

This wasn’t a reflection of Berrios. The Jets’ offense struggled to get going against the Broncos, and Zach Wilson had his worst game to date. The Jets failed to score a single point in Denver and will return home to face the Titans in Week 4.

Expect production similar to his first two weeks going forward, especially since the Jets are likely to be playing from behind for most of the season, which will turn into more opportunities for the Jets wide receivers.

  • Braxton Berrios Week 4 FAAB Bid: $3

2021 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 4: One-Week Streamer Plays

NEW - Jacoby Brisset, QB, Miami Dolphins (2% rostered)

Another one-week streamer, another quarterback. Jacoby Brissett will have an opportunity to put up some fantasy points against his former Indianapolis Colts in Week 4.

Brissett is filling in for the injured Tua Tagovailoa. In the last two games, Brissett has thrown a total of 89 times, completed 56 passes for 384 yards, and has rushed 11 times for 45 yards and a touchdown.

He scored over 20 fantasy points in Week 3 without throwing a touchdown pass. That’s what his rushing ability can provide your fantasy teams.

If you are in desperate need in Week 4 at the quarterback position, consider Brissett against a bottom-10 defense in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks.

  • Jacoby Brissett Week 4 FAAB Bid: $1
