Los Angeles Angels Futures Bets: 2021 Team & Player Props
Player Props & Futures
2021 AL MVP
- Mike Trout (+200)
- Anthony Rendon (+1500)
- Shohei Ohtani (+4000)
Mike Trout is deservedly the overwhelming chalk option for AL MVP. Given his short odds at (+200), however, my preference is to fade him and take advantage of the value abound created by his massive-favorite status.
Teammate Anthony Rendon is a viable option at his line, and I included Shohei Ohtani among my three favorite 2021 AL MVP bet picks. His line is unchanged, and he’s still one of my favorite wagering options.
2021 Most Regular Season RBIs
- Mike Trout (+1200)
- Anthony Rendon (+3000)
Trout primarily hit third for the Angels last year, and Rendon often served in the cleanup role. Hitting behind Trout is advantageous for Rendon’s RBI outlook, making him a better bet to win the RBI crown next year.
The third baseman’s 157 RBIs since the start of the 2019 season is the fourth-largest total, per FanGraphs. He’s worth throwing a wager on at his long odds. Trout at +1200 to lead MLB in runs is a decent betting option, too.
2021 AL Cy Young Award
- Andrew Heaney +3500
- Dylan Bundy +4000
I featured Dylan Bundy as one of my AL Cy Young sleeper bets, and his line hasn’t moved. He has longer odds than he should following last year’s breakout.
Teammate Andrew Heaney would have been included as an honorable mention in that piece if such a section existed. The 29-year-old southpaw does an exemplary job of striking batters out (28.9 K% in 2019 and 25.1 K% last year), and his 3.84 SIERA since 2018 is markedly better than his 4.42 ERA.
Heaney’s different shortcomings from year to year provide me optimism he’s been unlucky, and the gap between his ERA and SIERA isn’t the product of a fatal flaw. Bundy’s the better AL Cy Young Award bet, but Heaney’s an enticing option, too.
