After losing to unranked Georgia Tech in Ireland to open the college football season, the No. 10 Florida State Seminoles will look to bounce back when they host ACC foe Boston College.
If last season’s game in Chestnut Hill is any indication, the Eagles will put up a fight. BC trailed by 21 points in the third quarter of that contest but nearly pulled off a sensational comeback, ultimately falling 31-29.
Will this game be as close? Let’s dig into the latest odds and make a Boston College vs Florida State prediction for this NCAAF Week 1 showdown.

Boston College vs Florida State Prediction
Florida State 31, Boston College 24
It’s hard to glean much confidence from Florida State’s season-opening dud.
The Seminoles averaged 3.2 yards per carry against a Georgia Tech defense that allowed the most rushing yards in the ACC last season (225.7 yards per game), and quarterback DJ Uiagalelei completed 19-of-27 passes for 193 yards in his team debut.
Those numbers are concerning heading into a matchup with a Boston College team that didn’t play in Week 0. Therefore, the Eagles had more time to prepare for FSU, watched the Noles on tape, and didn’t have to recover physically (and likely emotionally) on a trans-Atlantic flight.
The Eagles also benefit from returning 80% of their offensive production from last season — 11th-most among 134 FBS teams — including dual-threat quarterback Thomas Castellanos, lead back Kye Robichaux, and top receiver Lewis Bond.
While I can’t see Florida State dropping back-to-back games against inferior opponents, this game could come down to the wire.

Boston College vs Florida State Best Bets
Boston College +15.5 (-110)
When these two teams met last fall, the Eagles were 26.5-point underdogs and nearly won the game outright.
This BC squad has many of the players who nearly pulled off that upset against a more talented FSU roster, and it should be encouraged by what it saw Georgia Tech — and another dual-threat QB, Haynes King — do last week in Dublin.
Look for Castellanos to make enough plays with his arm and legs to keep this game close.
Take the points with BC on the road in a tremendous situational spot as one of your best college football bets for Week 1.
Over 50 Points (-110)
If I trust new Boston College HC Bill O’Brien to do anything, it’s to have his offense in sync. However, the defense returns just 53% of its defensive production from last season, so there will likely be gaps for FSU to exploit.
Noles HC Mike Norvell will undoubtedly have his guys fired up after last week’s debacle, and I’d expect a better offensive performance in front of the home crowd.
I expect BC to contribute to the total, so as long as FSU doesn’t lay another egg, this game should go Over.
