Alabama vs Texas Prediction
SCORE PICK: Alabama 27, Texas 17
The Crimson Tide are favored by seven and should cover that number. Alabama has a 57-game winning streak against non-conference opponents and has won 43 straight non-conference games at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
This winning trend should continue on Saturday. Texas got off to a slow start in its opener against Rice, and it won’t get away with that in Tuscaloosa. Alabama has injury concerns in its defensive backfield, but its defensive line is stout and will make the big stops to slow down Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers and his talented wideouts.
Texas is 9-12 in road games against AP top-5 opponents. Alabama won 20-19 last season, and it has the better defense and an offense good enough to finish the job.
Alabama vs Texas Best Bets
Alabama -7 (-110)
Caesars Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit
Alabama QB Jalen Milroe can make a difference with his arm and his feet. His offensive line should control the line of scrimmage, and we expect the Crimson Tide to run the football, keep the chains and clock rolling, and, more importantly, keep the ball out of Ewers’ hands and those of his talented receivers.
Meanwhile, Texas failed to cover at home against Rice, Alabama head coach Nick Saban is 20-2 against his former assistant coaches. The Tide will not only win the game; they’ll also cover the seven points to clinch my CFB best bet.
Texas @ Alabama: Under 54.5 (-110)
BetRivers Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit
These are the contests great defenses like Alabama live for. Both defenses manhandled their Week 1 opponents, and if last season’s 20-19 Alabama victory was any indication, this contest will be controlled by each team’s respective unit.
Alabama should establish the rush and let Milroe throw the football when necessary, forcing Texas into playing catchup against a strong Crimson Tide defense. Texas has defensive horses as well, and Milroe and company won’t score more than 27 points on Saturday.

Alabama vs Texas SGP (+155)
DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.50 units
- Texas @ Alabama: Under 54.5 (-110)
- Alabama Moneyline (-285)
Texas @ Alabama: Under 54.5 (-110)
Texas will have a hard time rushing the football and will have to rely on Ewers’ arm. That might be worth a couple of TDs, but the ‘Bama ground game and the offensive line will keep the clock running and the ball out of Ewers’ talented hands.
Alabama Moneyline (-285)
I’ll hammer my above point for this SGP bet. Saban loves to beat his former assistants, running up a 20-2 record against ex-coaching staff members. He’ll add Texas coach Steve Sarkisian to that mix.
