Following an impressive upset win over No. 1 seed Houston, the Miami Hurricanes have advanced to their second straight Elite 8 and will look to advance to the first Final 4 in school history.

Standing in the way are the Texas Longhorns; after surviving a red-hot Penn State team and steamrolling Xavier, the Midwest’s No. 2 seed has started to look the part of a legitimate National Championship contender.

It’s a fantastic matchup featuring incredible guard play on both sides, so let’s break down my best bets for Texas vs Miami in the Midwest Regional Final.

Texas vs Miami Prediction

Texas 81, Miami 77

Texas just finds ways to win games.

Whether you want to play fast or slow, whether you’re defensive-minded or one of the best offenses in the country, the Longhorns just find ways to beat you.

You don’t rack up 14 Quad-1 wins and roll through the Big 12 Conference Tournament on accident, and a battle-tested Texas team should have no problems, even against the red-hot Hurricanes.

The trio of fantastic Texas guards — Sir’Jabari Rice, Marcus Carr, and Tyrese Hunter — bounced back from a rough shooting night to combine for 53 points against Xavier. And Christian Bishop stepped in for an injured Dylan Disu with 18 points and 9 rebounds.

Miami put together an incredible game against Houston, pushing the tempo and scoring against one of the top defenses in the country at will.

However, the Longhorns can also defend at an elite level, ranking 10th in KenPom defensive efficiency. And Texas, seemingly unlike Houston, won’t be bent out of shape if this game turns into a track meet, which is the difference in this game.

Texas vs Miami Best Bets

Texas -4 (-110) • DraftKings Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

The only area of concern for Texas is the foot injury to Dylan Disu.

However, with senior Christian Bishop stepping in and not missing a beat, the Longhorns appear to be primed to advance to the Final 4 and with the various upsets, find themselves as the only remaining Top-2 seed.

The Longhorns have the length, guard play, and defense to win it all; and they flash all of it on the way to handling Miami in the Midwest Regional Final.

Over 149.5 Points (-110) • DraftKings Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

Although I think Texas wins and covers, I don’t think that Miami goes down quietly.

The Hurricanes have made two straight Elite 8’s led by Isaiah Wong, who had 20 points in the upset win over Houston. A game where Miami shot 44% from beyond the arc and scored 89 points against one of the best defenses in the country — which should not be overlooked.

This should be an up-tempo game and the guard play on both sides is good enough to knock down perimeter shots.

While Texas’ balanced scoring attack is enough to get the win, Miami scores plenty of points to get this total Over.
