Two historic basketball schools, Marquette and Michigan State, prepare to face off in the Round of 32 on Sunday. Both teams managed to avoid first-round upsets in what has been a crazy start to the NCAA Tournament.
The second-seeded Golden Eagles defeated Vermont by 17 in their tournament opener Friday, while the seventh-seeded Spartans outlasted USC 72-62. Both squads will be feeling confident heading into the second round of the Big Dance.

Marquette vs Michigan State Prediction
Marquette 73, Michigan State 67
Marquette is one of the hottest teams in the country, winning their last 10 games dating back to the regular season. The Shaka Smart-coached squad dominated its first matchup of the tournament against another red-hot team in Vermont.
However, the Golden Eagles will have their hands full against a Michigan State team that looked very solid in its first contest against USC. Even so, the Spartans did show that they are susceptible to big runs, such as the 11-0 run they allowed toward the end of the first half.

Marquette vs Michigan State Best Bets
Under 141 Total Points (-110) • DraftKings Sportsbook
WAGER: 1 Unit
While both offenses looked impressive in the Round of 64, replicating that success here won’t be an easy task.
Both squads have allowed under 70 points per game this season and showcased stretches of defensive dominance in their opening-round games. These two teams are much more evenly matched than their previous, lower-seeded opponents.
Marquette vs Michigan State Same Game Parlay
Marquette vs Michigan State SGP (+255)
WAGER: 1 Unit
- Marquette -2.5 (-120)
- Kam Jones Over 13.5 Points (-135)
- Marquette Over 71.5 Points (-125)
As I mentioned, Marquette is certainly one of the most dangerous teams that still remain in the tournament. The Golden Eagles have also been great ATS all season, posting a 22-12-1 record against the closing number.
If Marquette can cover and score over 71.5 points, then Kam Jones having a big game should be a given. The sophomore averaged 15.1 points per game this season and had a game-high 19 points in Marquette’s 78-61 victory against Vermont.
Marquette vs Michigan State Props
Joey Hauser: Over 15.5 Points (-145) • DraftKings Sportsbook
WAGER: 3 Units
Hauser has been one of Michigan State’s most consistent players all season. The 23-year-old forward will also be facing his former school, Marquette, where he spent the first two years of his collegiate career.
Hauser is averaging 14.3 points per game and shooting 46.5% from three. The sharpshooter scored 17 points in Friday’s win over USC.
