NCAA Tournament darling and East Region No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson will try to ward off midnight when it faces off against No. 9 Florida Atlantic on Sunday in Columbus, Ohio.
The Knights pulled off one of the greatest upsets in tournament history by slaying top-seeded Purdue and National Player of the Year favorite Zach Edey 63-58 on Friday night. They are 2-0 in the tournament, after rolling Texas Southern in the First Four on Wednesday, and will try to become the first Northeast Conference school to reach the tournament’s second weekend.
But the Owls are standing in their way. FAU, which held off No. 8 Memphis 66-65 in the nightcap Friday, is 32-3 and riding an eight-game win streak into the second-round game.
