Many of us did not expect to have any NBA wagering options for Memorial Day. Yet he we are, considering best bets in what could be a major historical Game 7 between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.

Miami’s magical run has lost its momentum. Is the fuel tank near empty in a postseason that started in the play-in tournament?

The more significant and solid narrative, however. is that the Celtics finally rediscovered their best form when pushed to the verge of their season coming to an end. Boston is readying to add one of the greatest possible accomplishments to its rich franchise lore.

I am heading into the biggest game of the NBA season having hit on 21 of my last 38 highlighted picks. Overall, my recent record is 31-20-1.

Miami could not cover an 8-point spread in its last trip to Boston. The Heat suffered a 13-point loss after getting downed at home in its worst defeat of the playoffs, by 17 points.

But the South Florida postseason upstarts nearly finished off the East’s No. 2 seed in Game 6 and will not be decisively discarded this time. Even if the Celtics manage to join the 2004 Red Sox as a team to be revered forever in Boston with a win, it won’t come easy.

Erik Spoelstra is going to have his team well prepared as possible despite three consecutive losses. The Miami head coach has won five of his six previous conference finals series and he has a 4-1 record in elimination games, with three wins over the Celtics.

The Heat have a 21-15 record as underdogs. These teams have 5-5 records against each other this season overall, so they are certainly evenly matched, as we saw in Game 6.

In this season’s playoffs, Miami is averaging 112.2 points per game, and Boston is averaging 113.4. The Heat are looking to make some history of their own, as they can become just the third NBA team to win each of their first three series as underdogs.

.Jimmy Butler and his band were not favored to win any games in the first two rounds. The Heat have been an underdog in 17 of 18 postseason games and still know how to defy the odds, so they are my preferred NBA bet of the day.
