NBA Predictions & Best Bets Today

Last Updated: May 17, 2024

The Knicks in Pacers will battle it out tonight in an all-important Game 6. A win for Indiana would force a Game 7 at Madison Square Garden, while a New York victory would solidify a matchup with the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Here are my best bets for tonight’s NBA slate.

All NBA odds are current as of Friday, May 17.

NBA Best Bets Today

Knicks +6 (-110) @ Pacers

OG Anunoby (hamstring) remains out for New York, but Jalen Brunson’s 44-point performance in Game 5 was enough to lead the team to its first win of the series without the two-way wing. With Brunson playing at this level, there’s no reason why the Knicks can’t at least keep Game 6 close.

The last two meetings have been blowouts, so it’s easy to forget how competitive this series was before that. The first three games were decided by an average margin of six points, with two coming by five or less.

I do think the Pacers will force a Game 7, but I can’t imagine we see another result as lopsided as the last two. Both teams understand what they need to do to win this contest, so it’s just a matter of execution.

Look for New York to at least remain competitive and make this your NBA bet of the day.

Knicks @ Pacers: Over 215.5 Points (-110)

If anything has become clear at this stage of the series, it’s that both New York and Indiana can put up some massive totals. The Knicks and Pacers have each scored 117-plus points three times, and one team has posted at least 111 points in all five games.

The Under has hit at this total in each of the last two contests — they finished at 210 and 212 points, respectively — but that’s mostly because they were both blowouts. So far, competitive games have gone hand-in-hand with the Over.

So long as one team doesn’t fail to show up, this one should follow suit. Indiana’s fast-paced style of play is conducive to the Over, and New York has proven it has the ability to take advantage of the Pacers’ lackluster defense.
