The No. 7 seed Minnesota Timberwolves will host the No. 8 seed Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament. The winner will get through to the bracket to face the Memphis Grizzlies, while the loser will have one more chance against the winner of the No. 9 vs No. 10 play-in game.
Minnesota finished the regular season with a 46-36 record, their most wins since the 2017-18 season in which they made the playoffs as an 8-seed. They have a chance to make it back to the playoffs for just the second time in the last 17 years.
Los Angeles finished the year with a 42-40 record, closing out the regular season on a five-game win streak. The Clippers have been without Kawhi Leonard all season and missed superstar Paul George for three months.
With George back and the chance of Leonard returning at some point during the playoffs, LA is in a prime position to make a run.

The Clippers won the season series 3-1. These two teams played three times in the span of two weeks in November, with Los Angeles outscoring Minnesota by an average of 19.3 points per game.
The only win the Timberwolves had against the Clippers was a 122-104 victory on January 3. However, this game was played in the midst of George’s extended absence.
With a stacked lineup that includes Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell, and Patrick Beverley, Minnesota leads the NBA in scoring at 115.9 points per game. Defensively, the Timberwolves can clamp down when needed, forcing the most turnovers in the NBA.
Los Angeles exceeded expectations without its two stars on the court. When George was active this season, the Clippers went 18-13. If he played a full season, I’m not sure we see this team in this situation.

In his first game back from injury, George dropped 34 points in a win. George is a game-changer for the Clippers on both ends of the court. While the Timberwolves have the better record, they’ve struggled to beat Los Angeles with George on the court.
This game will be much closer than their previous matchups, but the Clippers will come out on top and move on to face the Memphis Grizzlies.

As I mentioned, the Timberwolves have struggled to beat the Clippers when George is on the court. Los Angeles has the momentum coming into this matchup and has a deep enough roster that the next man up can have a good performance when needed.
Playoff P will put on a performance to secure his team a spot in the playoffs.
