Baseball rules the sports-betting roost in the summer.

While football and basketball take the warm days off, the MLB is just heating up. With more sports-betting sites available every day, and new states opening up mobile sports betting every year, wagering on baseball on an app is the best way to do so.

It can feel overwhelming to parse through the options, given the high volume of options on the market. But here’s a look at betting baseball via mobile apps.

Benefits of Betting Baseball on Mobile Apps

Betting baseball on mobile apps is way better than betting in a sportsbook. Here are some reasons why

  • Mobile sportsbooks give users lucrative new-player offers that lengthen your ability to play and are not available in-person.
  • You can bet live, or while the game is going on, to get better odds for your team to rally and win.
  • You can easily deposit with multiple payment methods then instantly begin playing,
  • Some sportsbooks have live-streaming options.
  • You can wager from anywhere, whether it’s the couch, the bed, or even while hanging with your friends at a restaurant.

Best MLB Betting Apps

DraftKings Sportsbook

DraftKings is the most widely available sportsbook in the United States, operational in about two-dozen states. It gives players daily promos like odds boosts on props and same-game parlay, or second-chance bets where players will receive a bonus bet if their initial wager loses.

Aside from its wide availability, the DraftKings Online Sportsbook is a great option for baseball betting due to its extremely user-friendly app and easy-to-navigate interface. Plus, there is a robust number of betting markets on things like futures that other online sportsbooks don’t offer.

Sometimes there are more lucrative odds elsewhere, but DraftKings’ lines are competitive, and the sportsbook also offers things like pools, contests, as well as DFS, which is what it was known for in the first place.

FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel is the No. 1 sportsbook in America and also among the most widely available options for sports bettors.

With FanDuel, players get loads of available betting markets, including futures, props, and same-game parlays, which the sportsbook invented in 2018.

With same-game parlays, users may combine multiple markets from the same game for a more lucrative bet, and FanDuel also rolled out Same-Game Parlay+ in 2021, which empowers players to combine multiple SGPs in an enormous single wager.

FanDuel is always innovating, which means it will be constantly changing the sports-betting game. Plus, users may also be able to livestream baseball games throughout the baseball season, which means you can watch the game on which you wager via the FanDuel app.

Caesars Sportsbook

The renowned Caesars casino brand leaped headfirst into the sports-betting game with its purchase of British sportsbook William Hill in 2021. It and has become one of the best options around, especially for moneyline wagers, run-lines, and totals where Caesars’ odds are typically more favorable than the competition.

The Caesars Online Sportsbook app also gives players boosted props and same-game parlays every day of the baseball season, and also provides a new-player bonus that enables them to build their bankroll. Plus, every wager comes with Caesars Rewards, its robust VIP Rewards system, where players can earn points to be redeemed for perks like hotel, and dining credits, or other Caesars merch.

BetMGM Sportsbook

I love the BetMGM Sportsbook app. It has an extremely user-friendly interface, plus players can follow gamecasts after they place their wagers to keep tabs on how their bets are going.

BetMGM makes baseball betting convenient by allowing players to easily the game they wish to wager, plus they offer boosted SGPs and props to give users better odds on markets they were wishing to play anyway.

There’s no shortage of year-round promotions on the BetMGM Sportsbook app too, which makes it an option where bettors should keep coming back to.

bet365 Sportsbook

The world’s most popular sportsbook is now making inroads in the United States, and bet365 is a superb option for baseball bettors. The sportsbook is renowned for its early-win bonuses, and in baseball if you placed a moneyline wager, and the team you bet takes a five-run lead, bet365 will count it as a win whether your team hangs on or not.

Plus, bet365 has exceptional odds, great prop markets, and makes them all easy to find with arguably the most user-friendly app in mobile sports betting.

If bet365 is available in your home state, it is a sportsbook app you should be using.

How To Pick the Best MLB Betting Apps

There’s a bunch of factors when picking the best app for MLB betting. Here are some I consider strongly.

Welcome Bonuses

Great welcome bonuses give users a longer ability to play on the site. Brick-and-mortar sportsbooks do not give new users free playable funds, or second-chance bets, which makes each sportsbook’s welcome bonus worth taking advantage of.

My personal favorite welcome bonus is a first-deposit match, but second-chance bets and bet-and-gets are also bonuses that give players, and especially baseball bettors, extra time to play with the site while determining their preferred sportsbook.

Promotions

Promos are another great way to lengthen play since some sportsbooks will regularly provide bonus bets to users, especially during baseball season. Promos and boosts are a great way to get better odds and insurance on wagers you were planning to make anyway, thus mitigating some of the risk.

Odds

Odds are fairly standard but can vary from sportsbook to sportsbook. Even a seemingly miniscule difference — like -102 over -105 or +120 over +115 — will pay out better for you as a player in the long run.

Some sportsbooks will have better odds on various markets at various times. Caesars usually has better odds, but bet365 has more favorable spreads, and FanDuel will almost always have a different number than the rest.

Odds shopping is essential, which is why it’s important to have funds in multiple accounts. The sportsbook that regularly has the best odds for your style of play should be the one you use most often.

Markets

FanDuel and DraftKings have way more futures bets than other options, but if you don’t care about futures then that doesn’t matter.

Some sportsbooks have limited same-game parlay options. Some have more or fewer props than the competition. Find the available betting markets that best suit your playing style, and again, target the sportsbook that has those regularly.

App Functionality

Other reasons to pick an MLB betting app are listed below:

  • Log-in speed, especially when placing live bets
  • Payment methods/speed
  • User Interface
  • Reliability

MLB Betting Apps vs Desktop

Betting with apps on your phone or tablet is a far more efficient way to do so, and having apps means you can wager in any state or jurisdiction that enables sports betting.

Mobile phones enable lightning-fast geo-tracking, which means apps can determine whether you’re in a legal betting state, province, or country within seconds of sign-in. If you’re betting on a laptop or desktop, or even a web browser on your phone, the process is slower and clunkier than using an app on your mobile device.

Betting on a computer is still far superior to wagering at a brick-and-mortar sportsbook, but apps are faster and extremely more convenient than even the sportsbook’s website.

How to Download an iPhone Betting App

  1. From the Home screen, select App Store.
  2. Browse Apps by clicking at the bottom of the screen, or click the search function to find a specific sportsbook app
  3. Search the sportsbook you’re looking to download.
  4. Select the app.
  5. Tap “Get" then install.
  6. If prompted, sign in to the App Store to complete the install process

How to Download an Android Betting App

  1. Open Google Play on your phone and use the Play Store app.
  2. Search the sportsbook you’re looking to download.
  3. Check the reviews before downloading if you’d like.
  4. When you pick the sportsbook, tap Install.

MLB Betting App Offers to Keep in Mind

We covered some of the new-player promos sportsbooks offer above, but here’s a look at each in greater detail.

Free Bets

Free bets are exactly as they sound: a sportsbook will give new users wager, usually of a low amount, to use on any betting market on the website.

Typically, sportsbooks like BetMGM or FanDuel will give players site credit if they sign up ahead of a new state’s launch date. But some sportsbooks will throw in an initial $10 wager as a no-deposit bonus.

These offers are rare and worth taking advantage of if you see them in the wild. Some sportsbooks will randomly throw free bets into players accounts randomly, which is a nice treat.

First-Deposit Bonus

As stated above, the deposit match bonus is my favorite new-user bonus. Sportsbooks will match your initial deposit up to a certain threshold and let users play with bonus funds before their initial deposited funds.

There usually is a minimum bet-through threshold users need to play before cashing out, usually between 1x-5x, and the best is a 1x playthrough. But even if you lose with bonus funds, you still have your own deposited funds to fall back on.

I prefer this style of bonus because it enables me a lengthy period of time to play on the app so I can learn whether I prefer the sportsbook or not. If I don’t, I can cash out all or part of my initial deposit and move onto the next one. If I do like it, I can keep playing.

Second-Chance Bet

Risk-free bets are the most popular new-player bonuses, and there are two different types: Those that reimburse as a second wager equal to the first amount, and those that reimburse in site credit.

The best second-chance bets are the ones that reimburse in site credit, since those empower players to use the sportsbook’s funds to play with on the app. The more common second-chance bet is the second wager equal to the first amount, since sportsbooks don’t want to give away valuable site credit.

Still, each second-chance bet is a valuable new-player offer since a sportsbook will let you try out its app and interface at least a few times before asking you to redeposit.

Choose More Than One MLB Betting App

As stated above, playing with multiple sportsbook apps is the best way to odds shop and take advantage of boosts and other promos throughout the baseball season.

Plus, users can get rewards on almost every app, even if some rewards programs are better than others, which means they can accrue points and rewards with multiple sportsbook apps just for placing wagers.
