Qatar vs Senegal World Cup Predictions

Last Updated: Nov 25, 2022

After the first week of the World Cup, this is a must-win game for both sides. Senegal fell 1-0 to the Netherlands in their opening match of the tournament while Qatar fell in convincing fashion to Ecuador on Sunday.

These are going to be the two nations that will most likely fight for second place in the group behind the Netherlands, so it will be a crucial fixture. Both Qatar and Senegal have a prolific attack and the better defense will come away with the points in this match.

Let’s dive into the odds for this matchup between Qatar and Senegal.

Qatar vs Senegal Prediction

Qatar 0-2 Senegal

The host nation will struggle to score in this contest and will not have enough quality opportunities to knock off Senegal in this contest. The Lions of Teranga are far more talented and should be able to convincingly win this game.

Qatar vs Senegal Betting Tips

This match will feel similar to Qatar as Senegal plays in the same formation as Ecuador so they will have already faced the same formation in their first match of the tournament. Qatar will line up in a 3-5-2 when they are on the attack with their wingbacks flying up the field.

Senegal is a very disciplined defensive side led by Kalidou Koulibaly and it will be hard for the Qatari to break through their backline.

One of the areas of concern for Senegal might be their goalkeeper Eduoard Mendy. He was one of the best goalies in the World the past couple of seasons but has not been in form for Chelsea and struggled mightily during Senegal’s first match against the Netherlands.

Senegal will dominate the possession in this game as Qatar will look to capitalize on the counterattack when they push up the field from the wings. Unfortunately for Qatar, this Senegal side does not concede a lot of goals in big tournaments.

During the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, Senegal only conceded two goals in their seven matches. This included the finals when they beat Egypt in the finals after a 0-0 result after full time and extra time.

Ismaïla Sarr will lead the attack for Senegal with Sadio Mane out of the World Cup with an injury. I do not think this game will be as close as the odds might think and the Lions of Teranga should convincingly win against the host nation.

Qatar vs Senegal Best Bets

Senegal ML (+104) at Caesars Sportsbook

WAGER: 2 Units

This is a tremendous value on Senegal and one I would place right now. As we near the tournament, this line will most likely move and will definitely move after both teams play their first match. It would be a pretty big upset if Qatar comes away from this game with a win or even a draw.

Both Teams to Score: No (-135) at Caesars Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

Senegal is very sound at the backline, and Qatar lack the attacking prowess to penetrate that defense. Even if Qatar are able to create chances they will need to get by Mendy, who is one of the best goalies in the game when he is in form. Back Senegal to shut out Qatar in this contest.
