Wales vs England World Cup Predictions

Last Updated: Nov 5, 2022

In a World Cup derby, England will take on Wales during a Group B qualifying match on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Al Rayyan Stadium.

The Three Lions have defeated the Dragons in 10 of their 11 previous meetings. The last time the two sides squared off in a match was in 2020, when England carried the day, 3-0.

This is expected to be a highly contested defensive battle, regardless of the World Cup stakes due to the nature of this showdown, which should lead to an exciting match.

Let’s look at current betting lines to determine the best bets and props for this Group B qualifying match between England and Wales.

Wales vs England Odds

  • 3-way handicap: Wales (+500) | Draw (+300) | England (-175)
  • Draw No Bet: Wales (+333) | England (-550)
  • Over/Under Goals: Over 2.5 (+100) | Under 2.5 (-135)

Wales vs England odds are current as of Nov. 1, on BetMGM Sportsbook.

England is a massive favorite to take three points in this clash in the UK, with a solid lean toward Under 2.5 goals. Therefore, combining the two most-likely scenarios would likely be the most prudent, with the Three Lions taking a low-scoring victory over Wales.

Wales vs England Prediction

Wales 0-2 England

As mentioned above, the Three Lions have won 10 of their previous 11 meetings with the Dragons. At the same time, England sports one of the top defensive units in the World Cup.

These teams know each other very well, which should lead to a low-scoring contest. However, England has superior talent across the pitch and should be able to outclass Wales for 90-minutes. Not to mention Dragons’ premier superstar Gareth Bale has been in less than stellar form while playing for LAFC in Major League Soccer this year.

After being relegated in the Nations League this past September, Gareth Southgate and England will be under immense pressure to put on a solid showing in the World Cup. I fully expect them to do so in Group B. That said, the Three Lions have been dealt several tough injuries to their preferred lineup.

Of course, this will not prevent them from fielding a strong starting XI, but it is something that should not be dismissed out of hand.

England had a rough string of performances leading to the tournament, especially in their attack. However, they did manage to score three goals in their final match heading into Qatar. I expect Harry Kane and the Three Lions to take care of business against a Wales side that lost five of six matches in the Nations League.

Wales vs England Betting Tips

  • Five of the last seven matches between England and Wales have hit Under 2.5 goals.
  • Three of Wales’ last six matches have hit Under three goals.
  • Four of England’s last five matches have produced Under 2.5 goals.

Wales vs England Best Bets

England Wins & Under 2.5 Goals (+230) at BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

This betting ticket should come as no surprise, given the facts above. England should have no issues walking away with three points in this showdown with Wales, but I expect a competitive match nonetheless.

In addition, I anticipate the trend of Under 2.5 goals to persist between these two nations.
