Brazil vs Switzerland World Cup Predictions

Last Updated: Nov 27, 2022

World Cup favorites Brazil will take on Switzerland in a Group H showdown on Monday, Nov. 8 at Stadium 974 in Qatar.

The Seleção Canarinho and Schweizer Nati last met in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup in a match that ended in a shocking 1-1 draw.

This time around, each side enters the tournament having finished at the top of their qualifying group. Brazil defeated Lionel Messi and Argentina while Switzerland took down the reigning Euro Cup champions, Italy.

Brazil enters the World Cup having gone a record 17 matches without a loss (14 wins and 3 draws) with a plus-35 goal differential. Meanwhile, the Swiss went 5-0-3 with a plus-13.

Can Switzerland pull off an upset? Or will Brazil add another win to their stellar reputation at the World Cup? Let’s look at current betting lines to find best bets and props for this Group H match.

Brazil comes in as a massive favorite in their matchup with Switzerland, which is to be expected.

However, this may not be the one-sided contest many are expecting, with the Swiss earning a result in six of the last nine meetings between the two nations.

Brazil vs Switzerland Prediction

Brazil 2-1 Switzerland

I expect this to be a highly competitive match between Brazil and Switzerland. The Seleção Canarinho may be the heavy favorite, but the Swiss have reached the Round of 16 in back-to-back World Cups.

A fully healthy Brazilian side is capable of lighting up the scoreboard, while the Red Crosses have scored at least one goal in every match against Brazil since 1950. So I would expect to see the Over hit during the match.

Brazil is likely to score early, while holding the advantage for most — if not all — of the match. They simply have too much talent to contend with between Neymar, Marquinhos, Vinicius Jr, Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus, and Casemiro.

Switzerland has been exceptional on defense, which should allow them to keep this match competitive. They may not have the star power of Brazil, but they have plenty of talented players, such as Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji, and winger Xherdan Shaqiri from the Chicago Fire.

Look for Brazil to pick up three points in a tightly-contested showdown.

Brazil vs Switzerland Betting Tips

  • In the nine times these nations have met, Brazil leads the series with three wins to Switzerland’s two, with four draws.
  • Brazil are 14-0-3 in their previous 17 matches.
  • The Seleção Canarinho are No. 1 in the FIFA rankings.
  • Switzerland are No. 16 in the FIFA rankings.
  • Brazil have won five World Cups, while also finishing second, third, and fourth overall a total of six times.

Brazil vs Switzerland Best Bets

Brazil Wins & Over 2.5 Goals (+130)

WAGER: 1 Unit

As mentioned above, I expect a competitive match with both nations reaching the back of the net. However, I am willing to concede profit potential by forgoing a Brazil Wins & Both Teams to Score prop at (+240) in favor of the above.

This will allow for my game prediction to cash, but will also account for a clean sheet from the Brazilian side if they turn in a dominating performance.
