Liverpool and Manchester City meet on Sunday in a match that will speak volumes as to who lifts the English Premier League trophy at the end of the season.
Right now, just one point separates the English powerhouses at the top of the table, with Man City just holding onto the top spot. The winner of this match - if there is one - will control their own destiny heading into the final stretch of the season.
Both teams played the first leg of their respective Champions League quarterfinal ties on Tuesday, so there is no advantage for either side when it comes to rest. Both also emerged victorious in midweek and will look to carry that momentum into Sunday’s salivating fixture.
Let’s break down this matchup of EPL title-chasers and dish out the best bets for the contest — and read our breakdown of EPL winner odds.

Liverpool vs Manchester City Prediction
All eyes will be on the Etihad Stadium Sunday morning as the top two teams in the Premier League square off with first place in the table on the line.
Liverpool is coming off a 3-1 victory at Benfica on Tuesday in the Champions League, while Manchester City squeaked by Atletico Madrid 1-0 at home. Both teams will play the second leg of their respective UCL matchups next Wednesday, and there is more pressure on City ahead of their trip to Madrid.
This could cause City to take their foot off the pedal just a touch on Sunday, while Liverpool go all in. The Reds have pretty much secured a spot in the Champions League semifinals after securing a two-goal cushion ahead of their return leg at Anfield.
It will be interesting to see what Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola does with his starting 11 as Phil Foden, who has been a substitute recently, was the catalyst behind City’s win over Atletico Madrid. His spark off the bench created opportunities in the final third, which ultimately led to Kevin de Bruyne‘s goal.
The last time these clubs faced off in the Premier League, they battled to 2-2 draw at Anfield in October. Prior to that, City recorded a 4-1 away victory over Liverpool in February 2021. With this game being played at the Etihad, I give Manchester City the edge this weekend.
Liverpool vs Manchester City Match Pick
Manchester City 2, Liverpool 1
I believe Manchester City will win this game because of their depth.
They could bench their entire starting 11 and their reserves would still be better than 60% of teams in the Premier League. I’m not joking.
Their ability to bring on guys like Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, and Jack Grealish is incredibly valuable to their attack, especially when they have numerous games in a short span.
Liverpool’s attack has been spectacular of late as well. Luis Diaz, who joined from Porto in January, has made a seamless transition into the squad and already has two goals in six EPL appearances for the club.
City’s resilient defense has yet to go up against a front three of Diaz, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane, so that will be an interesting adjustment for sure.
I still see City pulling off this win, however, as their defense has only conceded a total of two goals in their last eight games across all competitions.
Liverpool’s defense has been a bit shakier, especially Ibrahima Konate, who had an absolutely embarrassing mistake against Benfica to concede their only goal on Tuesday.
Liverpool vs Manchester City Best Bets
Manchester City ML (+100) at BetMGM
Wager: 1 Unit
This game is shaping up to be a Manchester City win.
With the gap between the two as close as it’s been for a while, City shouldn’t be looking ahead to their Champions League fixture next week and will be focused on the task at hand. They do have a considerably easier schedule than Liverpool to end their Premier League season, but they won’t pass up a chance to control their own fate on Sunday.
Back the home side to pull off the win.
Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals (-125) at BetMGM

I see this game playing out as a 2-1 win for Manchester City and I don’t think they will keep a clean sheet.
Liverpool’s attack will be the best they’ve faced in a very long time and the visitors should be able to bag a goal in this contest.
I could also see Liverpool scoring first in this game and City coming back to win, so there could be some value on City in the live betting market if the Reds strike first.
