The Arizona Cardinals have selected Colorado State tight end Trey McBride with the 55th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Trey McBride NFL Draft Outlook
McBride was the best tight end in this draft class and was a terrific get for the Cardinals in the second round. However, this was a luxury pick for a team loaded at pass catcher and just retained Zach Ertz and Maxx Williams in free agency.
While McBride could improve as a blocker, he is a hyper-productive pass-catcher. And when you are giving Kyler Murray another weapon, especially one with McBride’s ceiling, it is hard to complain.

McBride could wind up being Ertz’s heir-apparent if he lives up to his draft stock.
Trey McBride Fantasy Football TE Tips
McBride will get his shots in 2022, but barring an injury to Ertz, he will be hard-pressed for targets on a team that will be funneling them to DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Brown. In the pecking order for opportunities, A.J. Green and James Conner will also be ahead of McBride.
In Dynasty, McBride is worth drafting in the late second or early third round of rookie drafts. His landing spot will hinder him early in his career, but if McBride catches on in a year or two when Ertz ages out, you could have a starting tight end in a fast-paced offense on your hands.
