Just when you thought the Jets couldn’t do any better in this draft, they made another splash early in Round 2. After trading up to get the New York Giants’ pick, the Jets selected Breece Hall at No. 36 overall.
Hall was the first running back off the board and will form a tandem in New York’s backfield with Michael Carter.
Breece Hall NFL Draft Outlook
This is a massive, massive get for the Jets. Hall was a two-time First Team All-American – the Cyclones’ first unanimous All-American in program history – as well as a two-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
Hall led the FBS in rushing in 2020 and also set an FBS record with at least one rushing touchdown in 24 straight games.

Hall was a workhorse for Iowa State, topping 250 carries and 1,450 rushing yards in each of the last two seasons. He can also catch out of the backfield, hauling in 36 receptions for 302 yards and three touchdowns last year.
With his pass-catching ability, Hall gives Zach Wilson a quick, easy option if he runs into any trouble.
Breece Hall Fantasy Football Outlook
While Carter is New York’s starting running back heading into 2022 (and deservingly so), Hall should give him a run for his money. If he plays well, he could quite possibly end the season as the RB1 on the Jets’ depth chart.
At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, Hall has a great mix of power and speed. He’ll also get reps as a receiving back, which boosts his value in PPR leagues. Given his upside, he might even be worth drafting ahead of Carter.
For dynasty leagues, Hall will be a top-3 pick in rookie drafts. As mentioned, he could easily emerge as the team’s top running back.
The Jets have drafted and signed a lot of running backs in the past, with Hall on the roster they should finally have some stability at the position moving forward.
