Aidan Hutchinson Scouting Report & Fantasy Football Outlook

Last Updated: Apr 28, 2022

After Jacksonville took Travon Walker first overall, the Lions wasted little time in submitting their Hutchinson pick.

He was the ideal selection for Detroit in their effort to improve an anemic pass rush. Detroit ranked 30th in the NFL last season with 30 sacks.

Aidan Hutchinson NFL Draft Outlook

Walker has more upside, but Hutchinson is more ready for the NFL immediately and could make the quicker NFL impact. He is more decorated than Walker coming out of college. The fact that he finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting last season tells you a lot about his potential.

The Lions should continue to fortify a very needy defense with some other early picks, and they do have a pair of selections in the third round. The Hutchinson pick was the ideal start. He has drawn comparisons to Nick Bosa for his motor and power.

Aidan Hutchinson Fantasy Football IDP Tips

Comparisons to Bosa indicate that Hutchinson has a very high IDP ceiling. He is going to need more help to reach his full potential on a defense that is still in its building stages. He may not have Top 20 overall IDP potential early in his career, but he could eventually end up among the elite performers at his position.

Aidan Hutchinson Scouting Report

Strengths

  • High motor and great power.
  • Highly regarded for his intangibles along with outstanding physical traits.

Weaknesses

  • May not be an ideal run defender right away. That will limit his initial IDP upside in terms of tackle totals.
