The Wild Card round is set to begin in the NFL this weekend, with plenty of intriguing matchups taking place. After an exciting double-header on Saturday, the San Francisco 49ers will travel to take on the Dallas Cowboys as one of the three games being played on Sunday.
The 49ers come into this game having won eight of their last 11 games to sneak in as the No. 6 seed in the NFC. Meanwhile, the Cowboys won five of their last six games to conclude the year as the No. 3 seed in the NFC.
It should be a hard-fought game between San Francisco and Dallas on Sunday, with Vegas expecting it to be a close contest. Ahead of Sunday’s matchup between the 49ers and the Cowboys, keep reading below to get my favorite game props to bet in the game.
Please note that all NFL gameday odds and lines are current as of 11 AM EST on Thursday, January 13.
49ers vs Cowboys Prop Bets: NFL Playoff Prop Betting Picks
Team Total Points: Cowboys OVER 27.5 Points (+100) at Twinspires
Wager: 1 Unit
There were times during the regular season that the offense of the Cowboys looked out of sorts. Even two weeks ago in their game against the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas was inconsistent on the offensive side of the ball.
That being said, the Cowboys have scored 51 or more points in two out of their last three games. And while Dallas boasts the highest-scoring offense in the NFL at 31.2 points per game, they’re even more dangerous at home, which is where Sunday’s game will be taking place.

Throughout the regular season, the Cowboys averaged a whopping 36.4 points per game at home. Dallas scored 28+ in six of their eight home matchups, and their team total is set at 27.5 points right now on TwinSpires.
Dak Prescott and the offense of the Cowboys should be able to move the ball fairly easily through the air against a defense of the 49ers that owns the No. 16 ranked pass DVOA defense, compared to the second-ranked run DVOA defense.
I’m confident that Dallas can get four touchdowns, or three touchdowns with a few field goals, to get us over 27.5 points for the home team.

Total Touchdowns: OVER 5.5 (-148) at Twinspires
Wager: 1 Unit
It’s already known that I see the Cowboys being able to score three or more touchdowns by themselves. And while I see Dallas winning the game, San Francisco can score a few touchdowns as well.
The Cowboys have an offense that is loaded with talented players like CeeDee Lamb, Amari Cooper, Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard, and Dalton Schultz. Even with Michael Gallup sidelined, Cedrick Wilson has done a remarkable job filling as the No. 3 wide receiver this season.

On the other side of the field, the 49ers have versatile weapons in Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. Brandon Aiyuk and Elijah Mitchell should also be heavily involved in Sunday’s contest if San Francisco hopes to keep the game close with Dallas.
All we need is for both teams to score six touchdowns total to achieve the over. With the Cowboys and the 49ers scoring a combined 56.3 points per game during the regular season, six touchdowns are certainly obtainable on Sunday for our NFL bet of the day.

First Scoring Play: Cowboys TD (+148) at TwinSpires
Wager: 0.5 Units
For the final game prop, let’s take a chance on something with plus-odds. The first scoring play is always a way to have fun when watching the game as you anxiously wait to see which team scores first and whether it’s a touchdown or a field goal.
In the 17 games they played in during the regular season, the Cowboys scored first in nine of them. Also, in five of those nine games where Dallas was the first team to score, they scored a touchdown to begin the game.
As for the 49ers, they scored first in only seven of their 17 games this season. So, with that in mind, we’re going with the Cowboys to put points on the scoreboard first and in the form of a touchdown.
Dallas is going to want to set the tone early and jump out to an early lead over San Francisco. Whether it’s on the first drive or one of their first drives of the game, I’ll be placing half a unit on the Cowboys to find the end zone first to get the scoring started.
